I have a pain in the gum where a tooth was extracted, what action should I take?

Q.
i had my left eyetooth taken out after an accident about 6 mths ago..all has gone well until i felt a slight pain a few days ago. after a closer look, i was shocked to find i have a small rip/hole in my gum just above where the tooth would’ve been. im not in a medicel benefit fund atm and am really afraid there could be bad news waiting for me if i see a doctor. have you heard of this problem before? will it go away on its own? is there a reason for me to be so afraid? or is this a normal thing that will just need a bit of antibiotics?

Without seeing you I really couldn’t tell you why you have a small hole there – it could simply be the socket where the tooth came out still healing up. If you are concerned I would recommend you go back to the dentist you saw originally and have them take a look at it.
