Denture implant failure…has it ever happened before?

Q. I had two titanium implants to hold in a denture. the denture was removable I didnt relise that you could have them fixed. both of the implants failed and dropped out have you ever known this to happen I was absolutely devastated,
A. Implants can fail – all this is an uncommon event. The chance of failure is increased if you are a smoker or suffer from diabetes.

It should be replaced free of charge depending on the length of time the implant has been in place and the agreement you have with your dentist

I would like to arrange an appoint to potentially have a back tooth with root canal filling and crown extracted the treatment was eventually completed last September 2009. After the treatment was completed the canal became infected again in December2009. I returned to the dental surgery and they prescribed antibiotics. They advised the root canal had failed and I would need everything extracted and removed again. I went away from that appointment with the antibiotics which did eventually clear the pain and I have had no significant pain sincethen. I do now however get the odd twinge and I have been feeling a littlequeasy recently and I am wondering whether this tooth may be the reason. Werun our own business and I had to cancel two appointments to follow up ontheir diagnosis of the failed root canal in January 2010 due to the onslaught of flu at that time. The tooth at that stage was giving me no further pain and the urgency had subsided. Due to the unpredictability of staff sickness I was only able to give 12 hours notice for one cancellation and six hours for another. The surgery haD a policy of striking patients off their list if they do not give 24 hours notice so I am therefore no longer on their patient list and that is why I am looking for another dentist to look at the problem. During the initial treatment at the surgery the dentistalso accidentally cracked the veneer on one of my incisors when a clamp fell onto it and the veneer has now broken and is left chipped. I will need this veneer replaced. I also have veneers on my front lower teeth which are about fifteen years old and need replacing so I would like to discuss this with you also. I would also like to discuss a payment plan to cover the costof treatment over a period of instalments if that is possible. I would belooking for an appointment preferably on a Monday afternoon or Thursday afternoon from 21st June onwards. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, doctor, my question is about dental implant. I had it done 3 weeks ago, After first week I had a check up, and my dentist said it was healing OK. I been taking antibiotics all this time. Two weeks later I was checked up again – I been told , that my implant has to be taken out , because it was infected and became loose. I couldn’t get clear answer from my dentist, what was the reason for the infection. All he said was : “sometimes it happens”. Please, can you explain more widely about what happened and what caused that infection. I am 48, female, no serious health issues. Thank you very much.

I can’t really tell without seeing you but it can happen for no apparent reason or the area may have been infected before the implant was placed
