What will be the different shades of temps available for my old crowns?

Monday, August 31st, 2009
Q.
My dentist has taken wax up of existing teeth. He says my next appnt. is to remove old crowns and fit temps. Does this mean I have no control over how they look. Shouldn’t I see them first to see if I like them and be able to have a certain amount of control of how the permanents will look. I don’t want to end up paying a fortune when I don’t know what the outcome will be like. And what shade will the temps be. I haven’t had a shading taken. What if I end upwith huge white teeth like jodi marsh . I always thought the temps were what the permanents would looke like. Wouldn’t it be better to jig the temps about to my liking before removing any of my old ones. Your expert answer please.

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009
Q.
I lost a front tooth in my teens during a sporting accident. Over the years my front teeth closed up and they look absolutely awful. I’m 43 now and even though my teeth are in pretty good condition I’ve always wanted a nice smile. Have I left too late and would I have to spend years in braces.

Is it possible to use CEREC in conjunction with implants

Friday, August 14th, 2009
Q.
After a blow to the mouth, 30 years ago, which broke the roots of my 2 front teeth, I had an apisectomy, then veneers. I was told the teeth were too weak to crown, but eventually crowns were fitted and have lasted well. However, I cannot bite on those teeth, and i dislike their appearance. I am now condidering implants, but my brother’s recent experience has worried me.He has been fitted with a very unattractive temporary crown while the gum-surgery heals. My question is: is it possible to use CEREC in conjunction with implants – or might it be possible sometime in the future? If not, could I have my injured teeth re-crowned, using CEREC, or would there be a risk of further damage? My present dentist thinks they are too weak to re-crown and that the new crowns may not last for more than 10 years. But would CEREC (which he doesn’t do!) make a difference?? Many thanks for your help.

Is the six months smiles a good treatment for mild crowding

Monday, August 10th, 2009
Q.
Hello, i am interested in the six month braces, but have a few questions i have mild crowding in my upper front teeth and my bottom two front teeth overlap by about 2mm so one of them is at a slight angle behind the other the rest of my bottom teeth have just mild crowding with no rotation, my bite is also good, i understand that without photo’s and xrays you can not give me a definitive answer as to if i would be suitable for this type of ortho, but do you think i may be able to have this treatment.I live in the midlands and would be interested in coming to your practice for an assesment, in your opinion is the six month ortho a good solid treatment because i can’t find as much info on it as other treatments and does it really average just six months to complete. Thanks in advance.

Is it necessary to have a crown on my root canal teeth

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009
Q.
I have recently had route canal treatment and then had a white filling. My dentist is advising me that I will also need a crown on top of the white filling. My question is, is this really necessary? Can I not just leave the white filling on its on.

Can the veneers be removed from the abutment to get impression made?

Thursday, July 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi, 17 yrs ago I received a root canal, a post was inserted and a temporary crown was attached to my left front tooth. When replacing my crown I was told that apparently the post needed to be removed and replaced as it was 17 yrs old. But after removing the post it was evident that my tooth was cracked all the way up, so the dentist removed the tooth and built a resin cantilever bridge using my other front tooth as the abutment. As the colour of my tooth could not be matched a veneer was placed over the abutment. There were no impressions made of my teeth before this occurred, the ‘fake’ tooth was simply built. This worries me as I keep reading that impressions need to be made prior and a technician will make the permanent tooth. Is this true? if so can the veneer be removed from the abutment so that an impression can be made?

Dentist removed the root of the heavily filled molar but still i have a pain any idea on the causes

Monday, July 27th, 2009
Q.
I have had intermittent pain in my upper teeth for some years. My Dentist and I could never clearly identify which tooth the pain came, whether it be from either a heavily filled molar tooth or a crown with a root filling. Last week the pain became constant, pulsting and throbbing.I visited a emergency dentist who removed the root of the heavily filled molar and put a temporay filling in.However four days post this ,the pain is as bad as ever. The emergency dentist took xrays that didn’t show any infection. Could the pain come from my crowned molar with the root filling in? The pain is getting me down but I am keen to hang on to my teeth. To compound the issue I am holiday at the moment so can not get to my regular dentist Any ideas on the cause. Thanks
