Dentist removed the root of the heavily filled molar but still i have a pain any idea on the causes

Q. I have had intermittent pain in my upper teeth for some years. My Dentist and I could never clearly identify which tooth the pain came, whether it be from either a heavily filled molar tooth or a crown with a root filling. Last week the pain became constant, pulsting and throbbing.I visited a emergency dentist who removed the root of the heavily filled molar and put a temporay filling in.However four days post this ,the pain is as bad as ever. The emergency dentist took xrays that didn’t show any infection. Could the pain come from my crowned molar with the root filling in? The pain is getting me down but I am keen to hang on to my teeth. To compound the issue I am holiday at the moment so can not get to my regular dentist Any ideas on the cause. Thanks

A. Unfortunately it is impossible to say what the cause could be without an examination of the mouth. I would recommend you see a dentist immediately.
