Worried about pain and bleeding after implant treatment

Q. my wife has had an implant fitted approx 5 months ago and is suffering occasional pain and bleeding from the implant.the bleeding only seems to occur when she is eating ryvitas and only seems to give pain at night.there is occasional pain and throbbing at other times.my wife only lightly brushes the implant. at around the same time she had teeth whitening which resulted in sensitive teeth so she was unable to tell if the pain has eased off since the implant was fitted.will the pain ease over time or will it be the same.my wife is scared off going back to the dentist at this point as she doesnt want to be portrayed as a moaner. any advise would be appreciated. thanks,
A. I would recommend that you encourage your wife to attend the dentist, just as a precaution, to ensure that all is well with the implant. The dentist may also recommend regular visits to the hygienist to help keep the area clean, hence avoiding any future complications. Kindest Regards. Dr Kailesh Solanki
