Dear Dentist I am really confused, can you tell me with regards to teeth whitening is it possible that a high % can traumatze your teeth/enamel if you have sentitive teeth? What is the difference does a high percentage have a high ph? will it do more damage? What really is the best way to whiten. I went to my dentist and they gave me a high percentage 27% I wasn’t too bad but I ahve it in my head that I have damaged my teeth now. They can become sensitive but this isn’t damage to the enamel.

you can a little whitening gel inside your aligners and keep them in over night ask your dentist and only use whitening gels he/ she provides.

Hi I noticed in another post you recommend the Zoom whitening system. I am currently looking to purchase a system but with that many on the market dont know which is best. I am of the understanding that obtaining the best effect is all about which gels you use and the actual laser light doesnt really make much difference..is this correct? Even though the laser is the biggest outlay…so if i was to use Zoom gel but with a cheaper laser do you think this would have just as good an effect? Thanks

My daughter would like to have her teeth whitened and I want to ensure she has this performed by a competent Dentist. She does have a filling in one of her front teeth because she broke this tooth when a child. She is 31 years old and has never had any whitening treatment previously. There does seem to be so many people now who offer teeth whitening, even our local hairdressers has someone who performs this. Please look up a dental practice in your area who offers this treatment as dentists are the only professionals who can carry out this treatment safely and effectively.Dentists need to go through a training process to be able to offer whitening treatments, so they will be competent. Regards

Unfortunately whitening is unpredictable and you may not be able to achieve such a change. The best whitening products are take home whitening with trays and gel administered by a dentist.

Hi Yes you can mix Invisalign and whitening and it is a common treatment and safe. However during Invisalign treatment we often place attachments on the teeth to help move them. You should not whiten the teeth whilst these are in place but before or after they are placed, else the tooth underneath will not whiten.

I am 19 years of age and since childhood my teeth have always had a yellow tint which as I am getting older is getting stronger. My dentist put this down to a thick layer of enamel. My oral hygiene, I believe is to be high as I am an aspiring dentist and very conscientious of the appearance of my teeth. I would very much appreciate any opinion you can give on Kor Tooth Whitening. I have read up on it on the internet and it looks too good to be true. On a couple of my front teeth I have some white marks (florosis) – I’ve had trays made for bleaching and my teeth are probaly B1 now but they don’t look as white because of the white marks. Also, when bleaching tonight (now using Poladay) a new white spot appeared on another tooth – this never happened before – I had used last year wy10 but wanted a top up. Will I keep getting white marks or will they disappear? Also can cosmetic bonding be done on my two front teeth?

I want to have my teeth whitened, i looked into Zoom treatment, but the consent form mention the risk of root resorption. I had root canal done 12 years ago and having higher risk of root resorption. my dental practice offers home whitening using poladay product. My dentist onfirm both zoom and home bleach have risk of root resportion. Please advise me if it true? Which one will have higher risk? If there has been no protection used on the gums during laser teeth whitening can this cause any future problems? I had laser teeth whitening mid Feb’12 without any product protection on my gums and they have started to bleed when i clean my teeth in the last week, which they have never done before apart from the odd spot…..could this be down to incorrect precedure?

It sounds like a veneer might work better than bleaching. It sounds like a combination of implants to replace the baby tooth and veneers on the remaining teeth might work best.

Hi, I have several fillings( on the upper and lower set) . What I want is to replace with white filling. Is it as good and durable like the amalgam and is it recommended to take my old filling out from the bottom molars(one filling each side). Will it weaken the connection and not be as strong enough? White fillings or porcelain inlays work well as an alternative to amalgam, teeth get yellow as a result of tea coffee and tobacco staining

hello doctor thorne would i be right in hearing that you can combine invisalign and teeth whitening at the same time? I drink quite a bit of tea and red wine (on the weekends) and both habits have discoloured my teeth to a large degree.
