What options do I have to at least make my smile more pleasant

Q. Hello, Iam considering cosmetic surgery on my teeth and I would like some preliminary advice please, Due to very poor care from my dentist as a child, my teeth were filled unnecessarily and I was refursed a brace – as such I have an overbite on my upper front teeth and my bottom teeth are crooked. My upper front teeth have also been filled with misial, distal and oclusal fillings, so are now badly discoloured. What options do I have to at least make my smile more pleasant. Can you suggest the most economical way I could achieve this. many thanks

A. As you are stressing concern with the fillings on your front teeth- the most economical way is to have the fillings replaced to match the existing tooth shade. There are very good composite systems on the market that can produce excellent results. Be aware though, that the composite may stain and discolour over the years. Alternatively, you can have veneers(or maybe crowns depending on how heavily filled they are) to mask the fillings and protect the tooth structure. This is a more costly option- but neverthe less an option to consider. Perhaps you should consider whitening also on your lower teeth to brighten your smile. A good cosmetic dentist will discuss your options with you. good luck with your treatment.
