Q.
Hello dr. butt. i am going to be having all 4 wisdom teeth removed and am absolutely terrified. my dentist isnt the easiest person to speak to and a have afew concerns. they told me there is a risk of damaging a nerve that is in my lips and gum and in some cases the damage is permanent. what are the odds of that happening and what what it mean if that happened? i suppose i am after some more information on the procedure but now i am on the waiting list at my local hospital i do not have anyone to contact about it. i hope you can help, thanks in advance!

My wisdom teeth have been pulled out

Thursday, September 25th, 2008
Q.
Hi Dr Caplan, My wisdom teeth have been pulled out (1, 16, 32 and 17 I guess). I had to get number 14 taken out after having it crowned and infected under the crown. Today I had a root canal on number 15, and number 13 has already been repaired and apparently presents another deep infection, according to my dentist. I am considering 2 options to replace missing 14, either the bridge or the implant. 15 is now “gutted”, and 13 not looking too pretty. My dentist recommends the bridge. However, I know that I am going to be losing jaw bone underneath the bridge, since it will not be stimulated by any kind of (prostetic) root. My question is: what would you recommend in my case? In case of a bridge, how heavy of a bone loss can be expected over, say, 10 years, and how long until I would have to have the bride removed and replaced with implants. I am 30 years old, rarely smoke and am in good shape. Thank you for your answer Dr. Caplan.

Hi there I know this is probably going to sound weird. But is there any place in London that does the medical trails where you can take out your wisdom teeth for free? You see i am on working holiday here and can’t afford to pay. Can you maybe tell me roughly what it’s going to cost if I have no other choice. If you can be of assistance. THANKS!

I had a fixed brace them my wisdom teeth came through and now they are crooked

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008
Q.
I had a fixed brace as a teenager however my wisdom teeth grew in very soon after having my brace removed meaning that my bottom teeth are no longer straigth and my top front teeth have been pushed forward making them crooked, as well as my bite being completely offline. I am unsure what is would be the best and fastest treatment for me and would welcome any advice you could give. Thank you.
