A black mark has appeared down one side of my veneers what do you think it could be?

Saturday, July 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had some veneers fitted to my teeth around two years ago and a while back a black mark has appeared down one side which I thought was just a problem with the colouring on the veneer. I went back to my dentist and he seemed puzzled about what it was and told me it wasn’t the veneer but my tooth behind. There are no problems with my gums so the tooth isn’t rotting but he said the only thing he could do would be to drill into the back of my tooth and pack it and didn’t seem to keen to do that and asked if it bothered me that much, and recom abmended we just keep an eye on it. Since then when I have looked at it more, the mark seems to be going right down to the bottom of the veneer so I can’t see how it can be the tooth behind as that will have been drilled down to a stump. What do you think it could be? Should I get a second opinion? Many thanks

Does the fixed dental bridge have to be drilled off and the whole are be redone?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009
Q.
I have been reading about veneers but I am a little concerned about a couple of things. Firstly my teeth are stained but this is due to ( I have been told) antibiotics (penicillin i think) when I was much younger, so I dont think teeth whitening products are an option for me, also my front teeth are thinning-this is why I thought of veneers. However, what happens when the patient has , say, a crown on one of the teeth intended for a veneer and for a dental bridge(fixed many years ago- I know dentists generally would not use this method now).Does the foxed dentl bridge have to be drilled off and the whole are be redone? Thanks

My front two teeth have been chipped is veneers the only option in nhs?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009
Q.
My front two teeth have been chipped and when i first visited my dentist i asked whether he could tidy them up so i wasnt so self concious about them, i told him veneers were not an option due to the cost, iwa visiting him as an nhs patient. he said when i came back to have a back filling replaced he would put white fillings on my front teeth to make them stronger and more presentable. on my return he replaced my old filling at the back and said he couldnt put a filling in the front as it probably wouldnt hold very long and it would possibly break my teeth if it fell out, and my only option was veneers. i feel very disappointed as i was looking forward to being more confident smiling, in the back of my mind i feel it was because i was an nhs patient should i complain or just accept it.

I had root canal done and i was not comfortable with caps will veneers or lumineers suit me

Thursday, July 9th, 2009
Q.
Dear Sir, I had a root canal done on my front two teeth about 8 years back. The dentist had advised me to go for a dental caps however i was not too comfortable with caps hence did not go with it and let the teeth be. After so many years, the teeth have dulled and chipped a bit. I have heard about Lumineers and have heard they do not require grinding of the surface. I am really comfortable with the idea of veneers/lumineers rather than caps which require so much of grinding of teeth. Please advise whether lumineers would be suitable or i will have to opt for Caps. Thanks

My daughter needs her veneers to be redone under IV sedation can you recommend any one?

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Bohara, I am writing on behalf of my adult daughter. She cannot go to the dentist unless she has IV sedation. She has recently moved to the Nottingham area and wants to have her veneers which are about ten years old redone. She also needs some emmergency fillings and is having pain. Could you pass on the name of a dentist in the Nottingham area where she could have IV sedation by a properely qualified dental practioner. Thank you,

I am 51 and since having my daughter at the age of 30, I seem to have lost the enamel on my teeth. I hate having photos taken as my teeth look grey. What treatment would help. I don’t want to smile anymore.
