How can I reverse the veneers I have because they are too big?

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012
Q.

I had veneers fitted to my 2 front teeth to narrow my gap 10 years ago the only problem is i’ve always felt that my front teeth look massive in comparison to the rest of my teeth and it makes me embarrassed to smile as people notice how big they are, would I be able to get them reveneered so the teeth are smaller or am I stuck with big teeth?

I’m not sure why the dentist just veneered the front two and left the incisors either side the same size, so don’t know if an option would be to veneer the incisors either side so they are slightly bigger and make the two big teeth slightly smaller, i always feel like people notice how big they are and it does nothing for my confidence. I don’t mind having a small gap just the big teeth that goes with it. Do you think it is something i could look at getting fixed or just learn to live with big teeth. The two front teeth measure 0.5mm and the incsiors at either side are roughly 0.3mm, the first thing you notice when i smile is two tombstone teeth which is not a nice look lol. I bope there is something that can be done to make the teeth smaller

Is there a cheaper alternative to veneers to whiten my stained teeth?

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012
Q.

I have previously had braces in the past and my teeth are now straight, however i do have some stains on my teeth. can you tell me if there is a cheaper alternative to veneers as i currently have a low budget. I have done research on teeth whitening treatment and i found out that stains were still visible with whitening. the surface of my teeth is also wavy and i assumed that whitening would not solve this problem in any case. I am just hoping to find a cheaper solution to my problem if you have any viable solutions. Thank you very much for your time..

How much do veneers cost and is this price per tooth?

Monday, March 5th, 2012
Q.

how much would it cost for a durathin venneer for the whole of the top front teeth? including consultation fee, also how much would it cost for the top and bottom sets combined as when described as one veneer on the internet i am not sure if they mean one tooth or the one complete veneer on the gum shield covering the whole of the top or bottom set of teeth, as i have seen on the internet that show pictures of before and after results it seems that it does not matter if you have capped teetth as the veneers would still work? and is the whiteness of the patients veneers variable as again in before and after pictures there are smiles that look better but not in the whiteness of the original teetth although they look more natural to the orignals they are not as desirable unless improved by several shade of white without being over the top

What is the best option to close my front tooth gap?

Monday, January 23rd, 2012
Q.

I have an 1/8 in gap between my two front teeth and I was wondering if you would recommend orthofill bands as a solution…or what would you recommend.. its unsightly to me. I’ve done quite a bit of research on orthofill sounds OK except I haven’t had any expert advice I would appreciate some pointers. Also I am a 23 yr old male and have been wanting to fix the problem since my teen years it always embarrassed me. I would love to smile with confidence and would rather not get braces if there is another way being my teeth are really straight other than the gap. Thanks

Are braces a better option to veneers for straightening my crooked teeth?

Monday, January 9th, 2012
Q.

Hi Rob,

I’m a 29 year old male from the East Midlands. I have what i would call severely crooked top teeth. This has had a major impact on my life, from relationships and interviews, to learning to even speak and laugh differently to hide my teeth. My top teeth are crowded and one of the top two front teeth angles back into the mouth and the other protrudes.

I have never been able to afford treatment but have just been made redundant and will be getting a reasonable pay-out, i have decided i want to look into getting my teeth sorted as they make me very unhappy.
Going to the dentist makes me very anxious as i am ashamed of my teeth, i did ask about correcting them a few years ago and was quoted £7500.00 for veneers. Even with my pay-out, this is still a little to much than i can afford.

I was just after advice really, i would rather avoid metal ‘train-tracks’ if possible, but have heard about others such as Clearstep and Inman aligners. From the very basic summary of what i’ve said, and the hindrance of not being able to see my teeth, would you think i can get anything done for say £5000.00? Are braces the best option for me, and will Clearstep or Inman be suitable for my degree of crookedness?
Any help is much appreciated.

Kind regards

What options do I have for straightening my pointed canines?

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr. Hughes,
I am a 20 year old female. My upper canines have basically been bugging me all throughout my teenage years and whether I like it or not, they make me very self conscious. My left upper canine is very pointy and sort out jolting out, whilst the right one is slightly less ugly but still pointy. I have been to a dentist some years ago who had said I need to get braces but this is an option which I really am not keen on as it would take a long time and I just don’t want them. What other options might there be for me? Would I be able to undergo some form of surgery? It is a dream to ever have a normal healthy-looking smile one day and I really hope braces is not the only option there is out there for me.

Many thanks for your time

Kind regards,
