Hey There. My Smile Doesn’t Match Up After Having Braces. I Was Wondering If This Could Be Fixed?

Monday, August 18th, 2014
Q.

Hey there.

When I was younger, perhaps around 14, (I’m 26 now) I had a tooth taken out on the nhs that was growing the wrong way inside my gum and pushing all the other teeth out of place.
I’ve had braces to sort an under-bite also and I’ve tried to straighten all the rest. Subsequently I feel very little was done. My bite is okay but my jaw is all out of line. In the middle of my bottom jaw is a tooth. So the line that should match up with my top teeth doesn’t match. The fang tooth on my top left side isn’t there and makes my face so different looking to the other side of my face. I feel so ugly with it all over the place. I was wondering if this sounds like it is fixable? I’d give anything to have lovely teeth and not want to hide them.

Many thanks.

Monday, July 7th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I hope you can help me out. I have had gold teeth for the last 14 years and now I’m sick of them. It’s really affecting my confidence and has ruined my smile. Do you know if it’s possible to have them removed and have my teeth whitened after this? Are there any other complications which can arise out of this? Could you tell me how much this will set me back as I don’t have loads of money? A quick reply is all I need. Thank you in advance for your reply.

The Gap Between My Veneers Is Getting Bigger And I Sometimes Get A Horrible Smell. Is This Something I Need To Worry About?

Thursday, July 3rd, 2014
Q.

Hello,

I had 6 porcelain veneers placed on to my top 6 middle teeth in 2008. I had this done as I had a small gap which I wanted to close.

Fast forward to 2014 and my gap is bigger than it ever was. And my biggest problem is I am worried that the veneers are causing me to have bad breath. I can sometimes get a horrible smell coming from the top of the veneers near my gums.

I floss and brush my teeth twice a day and use mouthwash.

My experience of having these veneers fixed was horrendous and has left me with an extreme fear of dentists.

I don’t know what to do about this. I do not have the finances to have this procedure done again. Please can you help?

I Want An Improved Profile But I Don’t Want Invasive Jaw Surgery. Is There Any Other Cosmetic Dental Treatment That Can Help Me Fix My Deep Overbite?

Monday, June 30th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have a deep overbite. I visited a dentist and they told me to a have jaw surgery. This is something I’m extremely scared of. I only want to make my profile look better. I am interested to know if I would be a good candidate for cosmetic dentistry and if possible, how would I be treated, will it be veneers, braces or other ways to treat my overbite? Also I would like to know if properly treated how long can the veneers last as I am 18 years old. Thank you for your time.

I Recently Broke My Tooth In Half After An Accident. Which Treatment Would I Need To Consider For This?

Monday, June 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I hope you can help me. Recently, my front tooth’s lower portion broke due to a bad accident. I guess that my half tooth broke. I want to know which treatment should I go ahead with? Which treatment is more durable and involve less invasive surgery to correct. I’d also like to know how much the various treatments cost. Thank you for listening to me and I look forward to hearing from you.

I Went Through A Period Of Grinding My Teeth. What Treatment Would You Recommend For Short, Stubby Teeth?

Monday, June 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. I am seeking a good composite bonding dentist in the London area.
I went through a period of teeth grinding. I have now stopped although I still use a night guard.
This has resulted in shorter and ground down teeth to the upper and bottom front teeth.
Can you please suggest how I locate a good dentist for this work and although I know they do not last as long as porcelain veneers, would this be a recommended treatment for short, stubby teeth? Would there be another treatment I could consider? Many thanks.

After A Gum Infection My Dentist Said My Tooth Has Five More Years Left. What Should I Do?

Wednesday, April 9th, 2014
Q.

Dear Mark. I had a root canal on my upper front tooth. This tooth had a plastic material fitted as it was half broken 10 years ago. How long do I have to wait before I can have a porcelain crown fitted on the tooth, as the gum has a visible gap and there is some significant aesthetic damage? Also the dentist left me with a gum infection to deal with and said my tooth has five more years and that I would need an implant. What is the best thing to do as I am a young and attractive and this is getting me down?
Many thanks.

I Had An Accident and A Tooth Had Been Root Filled. Now It’s Discoloured Is It Best To Have Internal Bleaching Or A Veneer?

Thursday, March 13th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I hope you can help me. Following an accident I had, my front tooth had to be root filled and this is now slightly discoloured. Would this type of procedure work? My dentist is currently trying to bleach the inside as bleaching outside did not work. He is reluctant to put in a post bridge. Would an ordinary veneer be better or would that make the tooth protrude against the other front tooth. I fell on my front teeth which dislodged 7 of them. Thank you.

I’ve Just Got Veneers 5 Months Ago And I’m Hearing A Popping Sound. Have You Ever Heard Of This Problem Before?

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Mark, I have several new veneers – top front. They were fitted 5 months ago and I’m hearing little sounds and getting a slight feeling like pressure in those veneered teeth before I hear the sound. Almost like a pop. My dentist checked my jaw and also tried to see if the veneers were loose but they are stuck on. They were x-rayed too and the only thing was a black area under one veneer which the dentist said was probably a thicker bit of the cement. The noise is definitely from my veneered teeth and I didn’t have it with my old veneers only my new ones. I notice the sounds mainly after I’ve had soup or coffee or brushed my teeth but not only then. It’s really puzzling and my dentist is at the point where he has run out of ideas for what is causing this. Have you ever heard of this kind of problem with veneers?
