my mouth is in very bad state my teeth at the back are rotten what are my best option

Monday, June 1st, 2009
Q.
Im a 19 year old who is petrified of going to the dentist. the last time i went was in 2003. My mouth is in a pretty bad state, two of my teeth at the back are rotten(beyond repair in my opinion) some of my lower back teeth need fillings and im pretty sure i need a root canal as i am in pain. I am too embarrassed to speak to my parents about this and with limited funds. Finally, i would like to be sedated as much as i can as just the thought of the dentist starts to make me panic. what are the best options open to me?

can i get referred to the hospital to remove all my broken teeth and replace with denture

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009
Q.
I am 32 years old and have suffered bad teeth all my life. When i was three i had all of my milk teeth removed due to an genetic disorder that causes the enamel to be weak. Recently, i have had quite a few teeth break and i have a severe fobia of dentists. This has caused me to be very depressed and concious of talking and socialising. Is there anyway i can get referred to the hospital to have them all removed and replaced with dentures?

Q.
Hi there,i am 48 and have very poor teeth to say the least, only 16 in total mostly stumps/broken/losing enamel assuming i need a total extraction ? im finding it difficult to visit a dentist through fear/shame.do i need a dentist to clear infection/would hospital and general anaesthetic be the way forward ? assuming a total extraction is performed what options would there be afterwards.does a student/college need a “guinea pig” considering i am less than financially sound.

I wold like my front teeth to be centralised again which would be a appropriate technique

Friday, May 22nd, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Andrew I had a plastic brace which fit into the roof of my mouth as a child and then metal ones as well as an extraction in the upper set of teeth to make space. The extraction has caused my front teeth to move to the left. Ever since my wisdom teeth came out,- a couple of which were impacted, both upper and lower sets of my teeth are bunched up and misaligned. I would like my front teeth to be centralised again. Which would be the most appropriate technique to opt for when seeing a private orthodontic?

i have a constant pain on my temporary crowned teeth can you advice me on it

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Q.
Hello. i had a black tooth at the front and have had a temporary crown fitted months ago. I have constant pain as bruising when brushing my teeth and around the gum of that crown is sore to touch. Two dentists have checked it and cannot seem to find a solution. They think maybe the root is fractured. I never had pain from this tooth until now. When i first went back to the dentist he felt the post may have been too long and shortened it. I am wondering if that is the cause as i have a severe over bite. The restorative dentist today told me that if it cant be resolved, i should have the tooth extracted and have a plate with false tooth on as he would not recommend a bridge. Why is a bridge not a good idea? Two years ago i had the lower teeth built up due to severe wear, and i have considered the lower jaw to be operated on. Now i am having problems with the top teeth i really dont know where to turn. I would like to see a specialist who can advise me on all aspects of my dental problems. any advice would be really appreciated

i have abscess with excruciating pain in my teeth and i dont want the tooth removed advice please

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Q.
An old amalgam filling on a back molar was becoming uncomfortable, my dentist suggested an “inlay” without doing an x ray first. An imprint was taken and a temporary filling installed. During the week I had toothache and said so when I returned for the ‘inlay’. She said at the time “it may need a root canal but we’ll see how it goes” so the inlay was installed. 2 days later I had an abscess with excruciating pain, and am now on antibiotics and painkillers. This is the 2nd day of taking the antibiotics and the pain is still there but not as bad, although my face is very swollen. My dentist said she would now either have to remove the tooth or do a root canal. What should I do, I don’t really want the tooth removed but there is not much tooth left as it was heavily filled and I have just paid £200 for the inlay. Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks
