I wondered if it would be better to have a crown fitted after the root canal treatment

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009
Q.
I am having root canal treatment in January and wondered if it would be better to have a crown fitted afterwards. I have just had a temporary filing put in before the treatment starts which is supposed to relieve the pressure, but what I dont understand is how the pain will stop. Kind Regards

can i go ahead in redoing my root canal treatment?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009
Q.
I had root canal treatment on one of my molars by dentist. It had 3 roots and the dentist was unable to clear out one of the roots properly as the root bent. After waiting for a few monthe for the tooth to settle down as it was sensitive he crowned it. The crown looks awful as it sit over the tooth and there is a slight gap I think and the dentist said I need to floss in case foods seeps into it. It’s about a year later and an abscess has formed on my gum. The dentist said he’ll ‘give it another go’ but I am not confident in him as he is young and I presume newly qualified so I feel like a guinea pig. Should I seek a Endodontist to cary out the treatment? Thanks

My tooth was removed leaving the roots behind, to minimize bone loss

Saturday, April 4th, 2009
Q.
I recently had a lower right molar removed when root treatment failed & as it has an opposing tooth, I asked about the possibility of an implant. The tooth was removed leaving the roots behind, to minimize bone loss I was told but when I was referred to an implant specialist, she was surprised to see the roots. I’ve just had the roots removed and I’m left feeling that I’ve been charged twice for the same thing. Surely bone loss happens over a longer timescale than just a few months?

Tooth that was crowned 2 years ago is now paining

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
I had a crwon put on one of my back teeth about 2 years ago. It has been a little sensitive to temperature over the last 2 years but nothing too terrible. Last night I awoke with a toothache, it kept me awake until I took some ibuprofen. It subsides and I went back to sleep. However, it has been hurting me all day today. It has given me a headche and my jaw hurts. I have taken aspirin this tima and it did not work enough to ease any pain. I have just signed up for new dental insurance that will kick in in January but I don’t know if I can subdue tha pain for one month. What do you think it could be?

Dentist did not know which teeth had the problem and he did a root canal on 2 suspicious teeth, was this correct?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
I had severe tooth ache in 2005 and i identified the tooth to the dentist although by the time i got there the pain was throughout my mouth. He took an xray but decided that he would have to root canal two teeth as he could not determine which tooth it was so he did both teeth as i was in so much pain to argue. Was he correct in what he said?

I have a discoloured tooth (to the right of my two main teeth). The discolouration is under the enamel therefore no amount of polishing or prophyflex will help

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
Hello Doctor. I have a discoloured tooth (to the right of my two main teeth). The discolouration is under the enamel therefore no amount of polishing or prophyflex will help. Would a veneer be my only option, if so would you recommend a porcelain or lumineer veneer? Many thanks in advance,

I recently did a root canal the tip of the K-File used to remove the nerve during the procedure broke in my mouth

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
I recently did a root canal. After the procedure the Dentist informed me that the tip of the K-File used to remove the nerve during the procedure broke in my mouth. He noted that this is normal. This happens frequently to dentist. He noted that it will just become part of the filling and should not create any problem later. Is this correct? Pls. advise. Thank you
