I had a crown fitted 20 years ago. My dentist tells me there is infection at the root and I need to have the tooth out. He has suggested an implant be fitted. Do I have an alternative?

Can I get my teeth pulled off instead of getting root canal treatment

Sunday, August 16th, 2009
Q.
I have braces and when I started my treatment I was told they wanted to pull four teeth out two top and two bottom but I didn’t do it. I was recently told I now have a root canal can i posibly get them pull and allow for the braces to just close the gap so i wont have to get a root canal? Thank you.

My NHS dentist told me that my root canal tooth must come out Is this correct?

Sunday, August 16th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have a root canal filling in the right 2nd Incisor. The tooth has become dark in colour and a little painful. I made an appointment with my dentist, under NHS, who tells me that the tooth must come out. This alarmed me a little, to the extent that i broke out in a cold sweat! He told me that this was a specialist treatment that needs to be done at the local hospital, at a cost! Is this correct? Meanwhile i am on antibiotics!! Many Thanks,

My root canal tooth got reinfected what are my options

Thursday, August 13th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am an nhs patient and do not have to pay dentist fees. I have recently been to the dentist because I suspected a tooth that had root canal treatment had become reinfected. The dentist confirmed what I thought but said that it may need a specialist to do the treatment, this will cost £700-800. The dentist who I am currently with are different to the dentist who did the treatment so should I go back to the original dentist? Also as I am a student it’s going to be hard to pay for the treatment is there any ways around this?

Would it be possible just to have the tooth filled instead of root canal treatment

Thursday, August 13th, 2009
Q.
My dentist(locum)has suggested root canal treatment and a crown. I have a temporary filling. As a pensioner I am worried about the cost, but would prefer not to lose the tooth. Would it be possible just to have the tooth filled?

My tooth has recently started to get sensitive what are my options?

Friday, August 7th, 2009
Q.
Hi – i had a route canal done in the uk about 4 years ago on one of my back tooth, i think it may have been slightly complicated as i had 4 canals of which 3 where treated but they didn’t want to go further into the nerve than was necessary (from what i can remember). My tooth has recently started to get sensitive and in the last couple of days it has started to go grey/black. From the info that i have given (which isn’t much i appreciate) what do you think my options are? Thanks for your help

If Ive an extraction how long to I have to perform a bridge or implant?

Friday, August 7th, 2009
Q.
Next to the last molar top left of my mouth has had a root canal & crown (lont time ago) with re-treatment of root canal about 5 years ago. After infection and appt was told the root is cracked (11/08). I hesitate extraction and subsequent implant for financial reasons. It has not become re-infected to my knowledge. I have had a headache for 3 weeks. Could the tooth issue cause this? If I have it extracted (partically covered by insurance) how long to I have to perform a bridge or implant? Are their other options? Again cost is a huge factor. Wish it was the back tooth – I’d have it pulled without anything else, however this effects my smile.
