Is it possible that a Root canal tooth has mutated bacteria

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
I have what seems to be a mean subtle toothache coming from an old root canal. All the dentists are saying that there is nothing wrong with that tooth. I desperation I have already removed the other suspect teeth form around this one (no 6 I believe, left) and now every doctors says that i must not loose this one. Is there such a thing as a mutated bacteria, when sealed in an airtight tooth that can poison you? I have earache, sore throat, and toothache but not a very clear one as the nerve had been removed. I can bite on that tooth but if I touch around the roots it seems to be sensitive inside. No abscess and nothing bad on xrays. Even the enthodontist confirmed that. Please advise whether there is a the possibility of a mutated bacteria. Do they really exist and what cna be used for treatment? Ordinary antibiotics did not make difference.

My new crown, looks great but I can’t eat on it, so sensitive when I try to chew or bite into anything, the pain is so severe it’s unbearable

Q.
I have got clearstep braces which is costing quite a bit but because of this treatment I need to stay with the dentist I have however before my braces I had to undergo other necessary work, ie fillings in two back lower teeth and a crown on another back lower tooth which he claimed needed redoing. My new crown, looks great but I can’t eat on it, so sensitive when I try to chew or bite into anything, the pain is so severe it’s unbearable. My dentist says just use sensodyne toothpaste and it will be okay??? I have been doing this for six months now! On the other lower side (new fillings) I have had terrible toothache with swelling which he said was an abscess, gave me amoxicillin which did’nt get rid of it! I have now been told to go back after christmas! I am still in agony, my face is swollen and I am unable to eat and now looking forward to a very painful christmas. I don’t know what to do as I have so far spent thousands of pounds and don’t really want to go elsewhere, what can I do to ease the pain?

I’m reluctant to lose more tooth surface than is absolutely necessary, but will an onlay/partial crown be sufficient for my very hard bite and probable night grinding?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Dear Andrew; I’m 31, live in Essex and have had a string of dental disasters with my current practicioner, all concerning the same two teeth (last lower molars, I have no wisdom teeth there) following accidently biting on a stone in some food. The result is that I now require a retreatment of one root canal (which I’m having in Brentwood) and following that some kind of restoration work (which the specialist endodontist does not undertake). The endodontist suggested that because I have a large amount of healthy tooth left an onlay or a three-quarter crown would be a sufficient restoration for me. I’ve previously had inlays but these kept falling out and have become displaced around 4 times each (one on each of the molars in question) in the last two years, culminating the necessity for the current retreatment. I’m reluctant to lose more tooth surface than is absolutely necessary, but will an onlay/partial crown be sufficient for my very hard bite and probable night grinding? I travel a lot and would hate to loose the restoration on a trip, not have immediate access to a dentist and for the root canal to fail (again) as a result of this. Could you please advise me as to the course of action you would take? Best wishes

I have a grade 2 mobility I need to get root canal done. Can i remove the tooth?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have a grade 2 mobility of UR5 following gum disease and bone loss. I need a root canal treatment on this tooth but due to bone loss there is high probability that I might actually lose the tooth altogether (according to my dentist). My question: could I ask for the tooth to be removed now, rather than waiting and would I still need a root canal? THankyou for your time in advance

I need a root canal. Are there alternatives? Do dentist still use silver caps?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Do dentist still use silver caps? I need a root canal, however are there alternatives to treatment? This procedure cost too much and the crown is expensive as well. I was thinking maybe they can clean the tooth and then just put a silver crown to protect it.

Root canal filling has come out

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Recently I had a root canal performed on one of my left premolars on the upper jaw. Today the filling came out leaving only a small semi circular piece of tooth left on the outer edge. What is the best dental solution to this problem? I would like the best cosmetic outcome possible as you can see this tooth when I smile.
