I have a gold crown that was installed several years ago

Monday, November 3rd, 2008
Q.
I have a gold crown that was installed several years ago. I then had to have a root canal through the crown a couple of years ago. I always had a small puss pocket that would manifest itself now and then on the outside of the tooth next to the exterior gum line. Now it seems the area under the cap has rotted out next to the exterior gum line and there is a small indentation too where I believe the puss pocket used to be. What should I do? Is my dentist a flake, or what?? I need a second opinion on what to do now. Thanks

crown or teeth whitening after root canal

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
Q.
Hi, I am only 16 years old and about 6months ago i underwent a root canal treatment on one of my bottom-front teeth. I am really disappointed at the unsightly look of the tooth, as it has gradually darkened over this period. My dentist recommended me to get a crown, but only when i am around 20 years old. I am at a loss at what to do as i want to ‘fix’ the tooth immediately, but i am scared of the drawbacks of fitting a crown in now. Can you please give me any advice?

what are the signs of a failed root canal treatment

Monday, October 20th, 2008
Q.
What are the signs of a failed root canal treatment – I have been advised that a 3rd canal in my tooth cannot be located (lower Molar 6) Part of the remaining tooth is totally black – can this be disguised with the permanent filling I`m to go back for in 6 weeks time – (why do I have to wait so long with a temporary filling – (no discomfort no pain ) Many Thanks for your time

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008
Q.
I have had a Root Canal of one of my front tooth six year ago. I have recently started to feel extreme sensitivity in the other front tooth (not the one treated). Both of the teeth were crowned at the time of RCT. What can be the possible cause and how should I go about it?

Q.
I have had two crowns already fitted on the same middle back tooth within a year and I still have a problem! when I touch my tooth I have a sensation up into the gum and can feel the presure which I don’t feel on any other crowns. I have had the nerve removed on this tooth. My dentist doesn’t understand this but I don’t want to put up with it for 10 years or so!

I have a tooth infection and need root canal

Monday, September 8th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have been told by my dentist that I have a slight infection in a tooth that has aleady been capped & nerve removed. Penicillin has not made any difference. He has said that the only thing would be to either remove the tooth (which he does not recommend) or see an orthodontist for route canal treatment (costing approx £600.00. Is this true, or can anything else be done? Thanks

should my crown be sensitive after root canal

Friday, August 15th, 2008
Q.
I had a root canal done over a year ago and had a crown put on the same tooth a couple months ago. That tooth or crown is now rather sensitive at night, when I exercise and at times when I bite down on it; is this normal?

ive had root canal broken crowns and abscess

Thursday, August 14th, 2008
Q.
Hi There Rob, Please can you help me, I have had root canal done on a lower left molar 5 years ago and a crown was placed onto the root that was left – not very much as badly destroyed it fell out a few times in those years and we just glued it back into the socket, however when I got pregnant with my second daughter I developed an abcess around this molar and was able to take gentle anti-biotics till I had my daughter. The crown became loose a few days back and I told my dentist I wished to have an implant done as she could not recommend someone we agreed to have a denture fitted in the mean time and I would source a specialist dentist.I have had the root pulled on Thurs and she had to give me 3 injections as I could feel her trying to pull it out, she told the dental nurse that the root had broken but I presumed it was all out as she did not say that any root was left in. She fitted my denture and off I went. that evening when the numbness wore off I was in agony my jaw is swolen at the site where the tooth was extracted and my gum has a hard white lump on it almost like a sore I am not sure if this is root still in there or the abcess from before or a sore from the denture. I am unable to wear the denture as it is now too painful. I really want to get an implant and reading some peoples answers I see that a specialist in implants should have extracted my tooth I am really worried and dont know what to do. please can you advise. regards

I had root canal treatment around 15 yrs ago on my

Friday, July 18th, 2008
Q.
Hello, I had root canal treatment around 15 yrs ago on my front tooth and had a veneer fitted. In the past 3 or 4 years I have had a number of veneers and they either fall off or crack. I had one fitted 2 weeks ago and within days 2 large cracks appeared. My dentist is on holiday, so I consulted another dentist who advised that my current veneer is too big, too thick and the wrong colour. He suspects my dentist has removed too much enamel from the tooth and this is why I am having all the problems as the veneer is unable to bond with the tooth. He now suggests a crown. I have been avoiding this as I am concerned that it will look false and if my gums receed that the crown will look bad. Is there any alternative or can a veneer be fitted if too much enamel is removed? Thanks
