i would be grateful if you could offer me some advise regarding my teeth and gums as my dentist doesnt seem to be interested in helping…
i have receding gums on my top and bottom teeth and they seem to be getting worse. i have took the advise and now brush with an electric tooth brush or a soft brush but the receding is getting worse. im 29yrs old and along with this problem my teeth seem to be wearing down, they have become see through in places and have generally become weaker and thinner. my dentist filled the receding areas on my bottom teeth with some filling but it now stands out from the colour of my teeth and people are starting to notice. in the past i had my teeth whitened but the whitener seeped into my receding teeth and has left white areas in the teeth itself which is very noticable.. whilst the teeth are wearing down gaps are becoming bigger. all these problems are getting me down and they are getting worse.
would i be able to have caps or veneers etc on top of my own teeth to cover the problems and can they be made to look perfect? can you have caps/veneers when you have receding gums??? i want a natural smile and dont want to worry about my teeth becoming worse…

Thursday, February 24th, 2011i recently had porcelin crowns done on teeth 6,7,8,9,10 and11. no. 6 is a little larger and higher than my original tooth and is pointing in a little bit. no. 10 is shaded with a tint of gray ( like my temp was on no.10) the dentist said ,don’t worry your new crown won’t have the grayish tint. BUT it does!! i now have two “black holes” at the gumline between teeth 6,7,and 8. and now smallish gaps between each of my new teeth which lead to alot of saliva that forms in my upper gum area.i did not have this problem before and do not see why after spending the money i did ,why i have it now.i am aware that gum lines receed as you age (56) but, again i did not have any of the “problems” before,so why do i have to accept them now. i am constantly wiping my upper gum to rid of foam and bubbles from the saliva. and this morning i left a phone message with them and asked for an appt. to polish the back of no. 9. they called be back and said the dentist cannot do anything about the “color” of no.9,.she obviously misunderstood my message but said, if you want to replace no.9 due to the grayish tint then you have to pay for it yourself. WHAT GIVES!!!! THANK YOU.

My dentist has diagnosed receding gums and has recommended me to wear a bite raising appliance before i go to bed.
Do you think that they are any use in stopping my gums from receding any further.

expensive orthodentistry but havnt
decided what or who yet.
My problem is this.
I have a full row of top teeth – crowned
bridged – and the odd one of my own.
They have served me well but now
i a 61 the gums have receded &
and the stumps inside the crowns
r rotted giving an ugly black margin
between gum and tooth on about
6 of the teeth.
Bottom row – many removed teeth
hidden by a prosthesis denture
which shows silver”’ claw’ when i
smile widely. Bottom solution i
believe is dental implants. BUT
question like answering now is:
Is there anything less drastic n
expensive than implants to hide
decay in the gap on top row?
My gums have receded on my lower jaw and two teeth are stained, would veneers be the best solution?
