Q.

Hi Dr. Bohara. I need some advice please. I have extremely sensitive teeth and my gums are receding. I am a diabetic also. My teeth at the back of the top and bottom of my mouth are very sore. Especially when I eat. So painful i need painkillers. I have several teeth missing at the back of my mouth at the top and bottom and sometimes when the pain is so bad i feel like i could pull them all out. Two of my teeth at the front lower jaw have very severly gum recession and are a little loose. Could you please advise me on any treatment. I currently receive free nhs treatment. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I’ve had my bridge since 1977, but due to my gums receding there is now a dark line.

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011
Q.

Hi,
I have a dental bridge which was fitted in 1977 and is still going strong! However, as the gums have receded slightly, a fine dark line is now showing at the gumline. Can I have this bridge replaced or is it likely that the two teeth either side of it would not now be suitable to support a new bridge? If so, what are the best alternatives? Also, would I be better to put up with the appearance of the bridge as it is and wait until it becomes loose or presents me with some other problem, before trying to replace it?

Many thanks

But I am concerned because my teeth have become very sensitive as my gums have receded. What treatments are available and what would you recommend? My mother had the same problem and has lost many of her teeth – I dont want to loose mine because my teeth are very strong. HELP. Please

I wore my retainer for the recommended time, but my teeth moved, can I have braces again?

Monday, March 28th, 2011
Q.

Hi there,
When I was a teenager I had braces and my teeth were resonably straight after treatment, and I wore my retainer for the recommended time. However, over the years my teeth have pretty much went back to the way they were before, especially the bottom teeth which are perticularly crooked.
I was wondering what options are available to me to straighten my smile as it is really affecting my confidence, I have lost my bite and find my overal oral health is being affected?
Another issue I have always had is that I have a very gummy smile which has always caused me confidence issues but I never thought I could do anything about it. I am just looking for some general advice on what options I have and how much this type of treatment would cost? I am 22 years old.
Many thanks,

Can I have invisalign even though I have bone loss and receding gums?

Monday, March 28th, 2011
Q.

I previously had some gum disease which resulted in a small amount of bone loss on my back two teeth, according to my private dentist when he took routine x-rays. My gums are pink and healthy now and I use an electric toothbrush. However I noticed a long time ago that two of my upper front teeth had receded a bit and my tooth arent perfectly straight either (despite having braces when I was 15). I would really like to have a perfect smile. Would invisalign work (my teeth are otherwise white and healthy, no fillings) or would that make the receding gums worse? would lumineers be a better option?

Can I have my front teeth made smaller?

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011
Q.

I would like to know if it is possible to have my large front two teeth made to look smaller. I have asked my dentist about porcelain veneers, and understand that they need to be replaced as gums recede etc with age, however, they also advised me that it would be almost impossible to make my teeth slightly smaller, due to change in bite etc. I’d appreciate any advice or guidance you can give as to whether I could have cosmetic dentistry to achieve this?
