I have receding gums, what can I do?

Q.
Hi,
My dentist has diagnosed receding gums and has recommended me to wear a bite raising appliance before i go to bed.
Do you think that they are any use in stopping my gums from receding any further.
Any sort of advice would be appreciated.
A.
Hi. Gum recession can often be made worse in people who grind their teeth heavily. If this is the source of the recession, then a bite guard can often help.

There’re herbal tea alternatives to curing swollen gums they are very easy to make and they are proven already to be very effective in the thousands of years they have been used by the chinese, japanese and indians. You should try it out.

I have had an implant for over 10 years with no problems. My gum on the outside of the implant has become inflammed and swollen. The area is uncomfortable in the gum itself, not in the bone or when pressure is applied to the crown. It does not really hurt, it is just anoying. It seems almost to have extra tissue there and when poked today it bled. I sometimes get canker sores so I thought at first this is what it was but now I am becoming concerned.

Why is it necessary to sweep away from gum line after cleaning teeth at 45 degree angle, do I know I am at 45 degree angle when I can feel the gum line. Regards

If you look in the mirror while you are cleaning for a while , then you will get it right . There is no need to be this precise as long as you clean at the gum line as well as just along the upper surfaces . Remember to use something in between the teeth in the space between the two teeth just above the gum . That will remove any plaque the toothbrush cant get to .
