Is there any treatment available to address my gummy smile and my crooked teeth?

Monday, August 23rd, 2010
Q.
I used to have braces until I had them removed last year because it was the end of my treatment. I had had them for five years. Yet I still have one of the worst smiles I think I’ve ever seen. My teeth are a lot straighter than they were before the braces, which I had because I had protruding teeth, but I still have trouble closing my mouth fully and properly because my front teeth are still too far forward, and aren’t completely straight. I also have quite a gummy smile. Is there any treatment that would be suitable and affordable (or on the NHS) so that I can have a nice smile for the first time in my life? Thanks for the help.,

Q.
I am 55 and have gappy protruding teeth. My two front upper teeth are capped and were made larger then the originals and I have a missing tooth on each upper side after the ‘incisors’ they were extracted to fit a brace when I was thirteen. Until I had one of my front teeth replaced with an implanted cap? that is too protruding and large my confidence has waned. Can anything be done,

Could my doctor refer me for cosmetic dentistry treatment?

Thursday, May 6th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr, I wondered if you could please provide me some advice? I have very uneven teeth at the front of my mouth, the top 4 are all very squint and this has given me a severe self image complex for years. I never smile with my mouth open, I’m scared to speak to people normally without putting my hand over my mouth. I also have a disorder called Borderline Personality Disorder, which doesn’t help me with my self esteem, and the image I have of myself. I don’t have the money to have cosmetic dentistry done, but I wondered if my Doctor could refer me for cosmetic dentistry to be done on my teeth. Because one of my tooth is so prudruding, it has also began to rot and looks terrible. I could get it filled at the dentist, but I just wondered if i could be referred for cosmetic dentistry instead? Yours hopefully,
,

Are there any options to improve my overcrowded teeth?

Thursday, April 8th, 2010
Q.
Hello sir, I am an 18 year old male with slightly crowded front teeth that protrude by just under 4mm. I have very short roots on my front teeth so have been advised against braces. I am studying drama at university in 2011 and hope to take it on as a career, and would really like to do something to improve the appearance of my teeth before then. I am aware that the results may not be perfect, but i was wondering if there was any alternative options that could even slightly improve the appearance of my teeth. Any help would be appreciated- thanks,
