I Had A Calcium Deficiency During My Pregnancy. Can Anything Be Done To Rectify My My Smile?

Thursday, September 26th, 2013
Q.

During pregnancy I had horrible case of calcium deficiency, my teeth shifted and I suffered significant bone loss. I would like to know if your six week smile program would be ideal for me since it is a lot gentler in regards to the movement of teeth below the gum line.
My lower central incisors are slightly twisted, the lateral incisors have moved slightly behind the central incisors which have resulted in lower crowding.
My upper central incisors have moved forward and my gum line has elevated a bit, also I have developed a space between them. My right lateral incisor and canine have shifted slighted behind each other. My upper right first and second pre-molars were extracted. Also I have filings in both my upper first molars.

Please advise if anything can be done to rectify my smile. Regards.

I’m Pregnant And I Want To Know If I Can Get Crowns Fitted Through The NHS?

Thursday, September 12th, 2013
Q.

Hi, hello, my problem is that I’m eight weeks pregnant and have very bad discoloured teeth, do you know if I could get crowns free on the NHS? I am twenty one years old and I have always had quite bad teeth. The dentist told my mother that there is only had one layer of enamel on my teeth. She paid for me to go private when I was a teenager but I have a front right tooth which is nearly orange, please can you help me? Do you think they should be crowned and will I have to pay? I’m afraid I cannot afford to pay for them and it is really bad looking and it’s really getting me down. I hope you can provide me with the advice I need. Thank you for your time.

Is It Normal To Feel Light-Headed Following A Tooth Extraction?

Wednesday, July 10th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, can you help ease my mind please? Is it normal for the extraction socket from two upper teeth to be a hole with white stuff around the opening and the gum the day after tooth extraction? I had no pain and no swelling and am already on antibiotics also I am 13 weeks pregnant it was simple uncomplicated extraction over in less than five minutes. I only had minimum amount of bleeding not really ate yet so it isn’t anything to do with that. Is it time yet to use salt water? I have also been feeling bit hot shaky and light headed, is this normal too? It’s just scaring me a little, I didn’t expect any of this to happen as I said it was just a very straightforward extraction! Thanks for the help.

What Can I Do About My Rotting Teeth?

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013
Q.

Hi I was wondering if you could help me I need 8 of my teeth removing and would like dental implants, they are in poor condition due to me not being able to brush my teeth very much during my pregnancy as I was constantly sick. My pregnancy ended badly and the baby was too malnourished to survive I can honestly say my teeth in the past year have been neglected to the point where they are starting to rot. How would implants work and how much is it likely to cost? Many thanks.

I Had A Bad Experience With A Dentist And Have A Very Painful Tooth. Will The Dentist Make The Pain Worse Poking Around At It?

Tuesday, January 8th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr,
I am 6 1/2 months pregnant and my upper back tooth is quite sore. in fact i am in intense pain everynight. Before pregnancy this tooth has a hole in it and a few years ago it gave me problems. However, I have maintained it myself as I had a horrid experience with a dentist when I was 19. I am 28 years old now. Can you advise me on what i should do. I am currently taking amoxcillin 250mg three times a day prescribed by my GP. Any advice and possible dental treatment that I could get when pregnant would be most appreciated. My concern is that after a trip to the dentist and poking at this tooth, i will be left is worst pain than i am in now.
Many thanks,
