can i get some advice on receding gums on the area above my dental bridges

Monday, April 6th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I had some bridge work done about three years ago, I knocked my two front teeth out so I had a bridge put in and although I’m not having any sensitivty or pain at all it appears that my gums are slightly receding in on area above the bridge where the teeth are missing. it hasn’t gotten to the point where there is a space between the gums and the bridge but I don’t want it to get that bad. Also I use a sonic care toothbrush with a soft head. Can you give me some insight or some advice on this matter? Thank you for your time, JR

Can I do something bout my bridge without replacement?

Friday, March 27th, 2009
Q.
Hi doctor, I’ve had a bridge for 25 years since I knocked my front tooth out as a kid. It’s porcelin and metal. I’ve always taken good care of it. Now the tops of the bridge around the edges are rimmed black. Is there anything I can do without getting it replaced, I have no dental insurance?

I have recently had a porcelain bridge fitted

Thursday, January 29th, 2009
Q.
Dear Sir, I have recently had a porcelain bridge fitted at the front (upper) as I lost my front tooth to an abscess.I am happy with it cosmetically but as my top teeth protrude the dentist sanded down two porcelain teeth at the back as to avoid them catching the lower teeth. Originally he said they would be remade as I paid privately and he said they would be covered by insurance; but now says he has permanently cemented them. The two porcelain teeth that have been sanded are rough on my tongue and I wonder can they still be adjusted.

I knocked my tooth out and had a bridge I don’t have enough bone density could I have dental implants

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
I knocked my two front teeth out when I was 8yrs old, they were put back in and capped but didn’t take and at 15yrs old they were removed and replaced with a denture and then a porcelain bridge. I am now 26yrs old, getting married in 6mths time and have broken my bridge and caused damage to the adjoining tooth following a fall on Friday when I blacked out. I have seen an NHS dentist this morning who took X-rays and wants to review my own tooth next week. I am considering implants, because this is the 3rd bridge I’ve had since I was 17yrs old. At that time I was told I didn’t have enough bone density, but could that change over time or just get worse?

I’m obviously very conscious about the cost as we are paying for a wedding and equally I am conscious of time because I need to be able to smile at my wedding on 1st November 2008. I can feel my confidence decreasing already, and I work in sales so I have to come across confident and talk to people all day. I really don’t know what would be best, another bridge would be quicker and cheaper but how long would it last, and implants or mini implants could last a lifetime rather than 5-10yrs.
