can i get some advice on receding gums on the area above my dental bridges

Q. Hello, I had some bridge work done about three years ago, I knocked my two front teeth out so I had a bridge put in and although I’m not having any sensitivty or pain at all it appears that my gums are slightly receding in on area above the bridge where the teeth are missing. it hasn’t gotten to the point where there is a space between the gums and the bridge but I don’t want it to get that bad. Also I use a sonic care toothbrush with a soft head. Can you give me some insight or some advice on this matter? Thank you for your time, JR

A. Sonic care toothbrushes are very good. I recommend to my patients to use medium heads but if you dentist/hygienist think you are doing a good job of keeping your teeth clean then there is no need to change.

It may be that the bridge is not a perfect fit and is therefore irretating then gum causing it to receed. I advise you bring this to your dentists attention and seek the best route forward.
