Despite My Good Oral Health Regime, I Still Suffer From The Problem Of Bad Breath, Is There Anything I Can Do?

Thursday, January 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew, I’ve been suffering with bad breath for a long time now and I see the dentist every 4 months. They are happy of my cleaning, and the dentist suggested to me to carry with this cleaning method. I brush twice a day and clean my tongue by using an inter-dental brush.  I gargle with mouthwash but I still have this bad breath problem. Even with my dentist scaling my teeth every 4 months time and when I do that I feel little better but it is no solution. Please help me to sort out this problem. Thank you. I look forward to your advice.

I Went To My Dentist And They Said I Have A BP Score Of 3. How Can I Improve The Health Of My Gums?

Friday, January 10th, 2014
Q.

Hello. I’ve been to see my dentist today for a check up and teeth cleaning. I noticed he mentioned BP to his assistant and she replied “some 3 but mostly 2” Does this mean my gums are getting worse as 6 months ago I was all 2s. I do use mouthwash, mostly ones that are intended for sore or bleeding gums but don’t always brush twice a day or floss. Also is there anything you could suggest please to improve the health of my gums if it means they are becoming worse?

I’m Scared I’ll Lose All My Teeth If My Gum Disease Spreads. Can You Help?

Monday, January 6th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore, I was just wondering if you could tell me is it true whether I have gum disease or not on my next to last tooth at the back and the top of my mouth is receding really badly and very painful. I’ve been told if I don’t get it out it will most probably spread along to my other teeth and I am really worried I don’t want to lose my teeth but really need to get it out it is so painful. Do you think it will spread to my other teeth? I hope you can give me some advice so I can fix this problem and hopefully prevent it from spreading. Thanks.

I Am Nervous About Going To The Dentist As I Have Gum Disease And I Fear What Will Happen In A Case Like Mine?

Wednesday, December 4th, 2013
Q.

I suffer with gum disease and now have what feels like a sizeable gap in my two main front teeth at the top.

I have been told my only option is to have the top four teeth removed and a denture fitted. I am reluctant to do this as I feel it is quite drastic and once done there is no going back!

I have been told a permanent fixture of new teeth is not an option due to the gum desease.

I am incredibly nervous at going to the dentist, fear the pain and also being judged for allowing my teeth to get this bad.

Would a cosmetic dentist consider composite bonding in a case like mine?

Many thanks.

I Want To Know If Implants Are The Sensible Choice After Suffering From Gum Disease?

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013
Q.

Hi, Dr Moore. My problem is that I had quite aggressive gum disease recently but I’m now quite stable. The four front top and bottom teeth were badly affected.

I am wondering whether to extract these and get implants sooner rather than later? They would definitely look better but I don’t know if this is really the sensible choice – what should I consider?

I don’t know whether to seek cosmetic treatment first but think I would be happier with ” new teeth”. I am currently very good with oral hygiene and know I’d look after my implants if I got them fitted. Thank you.

Can I Have My Chipped Teeth Fixed By The NHS?

Friday, July 12th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I wondered if you would be able to offer me some advice? My teeth are badly chipped, in fact they are chipped down nearly half way. My dentist keeps commenting on how bad they look and had suggested I should have bonding at££100 per tooth! I have just had a baby and my teeth have become loose as well,my dentist suggested a periodontist at £50 for consultation and £59 per x ray!! I can not afford any of this treatment – can any of this be fixed on the NHS?I don’t know what else I can do, it’s not just for cosmetic reasons that I need these chips fixing. They’re causing my teeth to feel sensitive and I can’t eat very well either. I can’t afford to go back to this dentist, maybe if I could set up a finance scheme or something, perhaps? Any help will be great, thank you.

Can I Have Bone Grafting Treatment If I Am Just About To Go Ahead With Invisalign?

Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hi, I am just making a small enquiry. I’m hoping you can shed some light…I have bone loss from periodonitis and have many black triangles, some of which are too deep to fill with alloderm. Can this bone grafting technique be used to reduce the pockets and black triangles so that I can then follow up or at the same time have alloderm treatent to improve my smile? I am soon to undergo invisalign to correct my crooked teeth so I also wanted to know whether I could have bone grafting/alloderm treatment at the same time as my invisalign treatment? I know it’s quite a lot to ask, I’m just make general enquiries before I speak to my dentist about all of this.  Thank you very much for your time.

My Gums Have Started To Recede, What Can I Do About This?

Monday, July 1st, 2013
Q.

Hi, I was just wondering if there is any new treatment or some sort of treatment that can be used to cover my teeth when the gums have receded? Some of my gum has receded quite badly and i was wondering if there was any cosmetic treatment that could be used on teeth so as not to expose so much of the teeth which have already become sensitive? I don’t know where to start looking and I don’t even know if this type of treatment even exists so I would very much appreciate your advice. If you know how you could point me in the right direction that would be great. I don’t even know if this is a dental matter? With it being my gums? Is there some sort of specialist I will have to visit instead? Thank you in advance.

My Gums Have Receded Badly Due To Periodontal Disease, Is There Anything That Can Help Them Grow Back?

Monday, June 24th, 2013
Q.

Hi

I have some receding gums at the back of my mouth due to periodontitis.

Do you know of anyone using stem cells to regenerate gums as I have heard trials are taking place already to help grow back the gum area? I am desperate to receive some sort of treatment before they start looking really bad. My teeth have already begun feeling very sensitive and my gums are constantly bleeding. It’s very worrying and I’m trying to get the disease under control. I was wondering if you know of any other treatments to help with gums as I have black marks on mine which is due to probably smoking but I would like to know if they can ever go back to pink again? Anything at all? Thanks in advance.
