I’m 24 and think I have a deep bite/over bite.

Q.
Dear Dr Patel, I’m 24 and think I have a deep bite/over bite. If i bite together I can only see the last 2-4mm of my bottom front teeth, and one of my top front teeth sticks out a bit. I’m just wondering what sort things are done for adults to treat this sort of thing? Its quite scary reading online about expanders, extractions and even jaw surgery and wondered what might actually be involved in any treatment and whether deep bite restricts options.

Hi doctor, i have had this problem for years. I am from Singapore and I am 21 years old. Its too late to remove my 2 front milk teeth otherwise I will look like I lost 2 teeth. What do u recommend? I wanted braces but I wana know if there are faster way of solving this other than braces.I thought of extracting the 2 milk teeth and adult teeth and replacing it but Im not sure whether my actions are recommended.Im gona get married soon and I wana look my best, thats why I really dont wana get braces.Thank you doctor. My teeth are overcrowded in my mouth and I have large front teeth

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
Can you help? My mouth is overcrowded and I have large front teeth, I saw an orthodontist when I was younger but he advised me all was ok! I beg to differ. As I have become older my wisdom teeth have come through, which I think is now causing teeth to overlap and become crooked. I have been too afraid to ask as I find it difficult to talk about and am scared that I am beyond help. My smile affects everything in my life due to low confidence and low self esteem. I would love to get something done! Is there still hope?

Will I be able to have two front teeth again? Can the gap be opened up again to fit two front teeth? Can my lateral incisors ether side be used to create a bridge for four teeth?

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi Can you help. I’m 31. healthy teeth no fillings. I had both of my upper central incisors knocked out in my late teens. One was saved but the gap wasn’t filled. Unfortunately the gap got smaller. Over time the saved tooth had to be extracted, as the gap is only wide enough for 1 front tooth I had a Maryland bridge fitted. I have had this now for 4 years. The dentist that did the work assured me if the bridge came out he wouldn’t charge me because it was part of the treatment. When I had to return to have it re-fixed he charged me and said he would continue to charge!! This caused conflict and I haven’t returned since. I am very apprehensive to trust a new dentist and quite embarrassed about my situation. Will I be able to have two front teeth again? Can the gap be opened up again to fit two front teeth? Can my lateral incisors ether side be used to create a bridge for four teeth? Sorry if it sounds complicated Any comments would be appreciated Thanks

Could you advise cheaper alternative orthodontist for ligunal and regular braces in central london?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Hello I’ve just seen an orthodontist regarding repositioning/straightening my incisors to achieve a better smile (they currently protrude slightly, in particular one of them). I would prefer invisible braces (lingual)and I was quoted £7,500 (or £6,000 for lingual on the top teeth and regular braces on the bottom). He estimated the process should take 12-15months. I would like to know whether these are representative costs for this treatment? Also, could you advise a cheaper alternative/location for a cheaper orthodontist. I am based in central London where the orthodontist I visited is also based. Regards and many thanks for any advice offered.

Is there anything that you can suggest to improve my teeth and smile

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
I Had braces when i was 14 for 2 years, however i am very unhappy with my teeth. i have quite a small mouth therefore a small smile. i revisted my orthodontist explaining i was not very happy and she said i would never be able to have the smile i want because my mouth was to small. My friend however was at the same orthodontic practice with a differant dr. it was the last year they were doing some kind of surgery for free , which she was given. she now has perfect teeth, the size of both her teeth and mouth are very similar to mine. Is there anything you can suggest, and also do you have any idea of the surgery she owuld have had? thanks

My dentist refered me to an orthodontist for overcrowding

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
My dentist refered me to an orthodontist for overcrowding. When i went to see the orthodontist he said that I could have braces (train track) on my upper teeth following 2 extractions, as my front teeth are slightly gowing back and the two teeth either side are protruding outwards, i believe he said it was a grade two. He also mentioned that as on my left side the gum has receded due to the tooth protruding and I may or may not require an operation to correct this but would only be able to tell after having the braces on. I was just wondering if youcould advise if any other treatment maybe applipcable so Icould look into it further.

I have a large gap between my two front teeth (about 4mm) and my right canine is missing

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I really hope you will be able to answer my question quickly, as my problem is causing me a lot of unhappiness. I am 21. I have a large gap between my two front teeth (about 4mm), and my right canine is missing. I actually think that it is the tooth that is meant to be between my canine and the front one that is missing, but the canine has moved into the position that the missing one should be. (Sorry for that awful explanation). All of my other teeth are straight and very healthy, top and bottom. I was wondering what kind of treatment I would need to fix this problem, to make me have a nice smile, and a rough guess at the cost. I’d really appreciate any help, thank you in advance!
