I had a root canal done on one of my middle lower teeth

Thursday, November 6th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I had a root canal done on one of my middle lower teeth about 10 years ago due to an abcess. I had no trouble until a few months ago when the tooth started to fall apart. My dentist told me i needed a crown. He has taken the original tooth down to gumline and inserted 4 small pins and built a little square platform for the porcelain over metal tooth to cement to. The tooth fitted ok until last week when it fell off after only being on 2 or 3 months. I am having it re-fitted in a week after it has been re-cleaned. Im wondering whether he needs to insert a post to stop it from falling off again? The other problem is that ive had bad breath ever since he fitted it….there is a hairline gap between it and my gum which i can get toothfloss right under. Am i going to be stuck with this forever or is it just poorly fitted?

my wisdom tooth is loose australia

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008
Q.
Hi Doctor, and I am a single Mum two. I live in Melbourne Australia, I went to the dentist for the first time in years (like most people, I simply could not afford it) and was told I had gum disease, my lower back tooth nest to my wisdom tooth is loose and he also said I have it on the opposite side up the top. I have been flossing daily and and using a mouth wash, will I loose this tooth eventually or can I save it and the ones surrounding it if I keep up great hygene? I’m never going to be able to afford implants in the future, please help, I am really frightened. Thank you so much for your time. Kind Regards

my teeth are disgusting from drinking sugar drinks and smoking

Sunday, October 26th, 2008
Q.
Hi i am 23 years old and can honestly say my teeth are disgusting from drinking extreme amounts of sugar drinks and smoking. I am so so scared of the dentist as i have been treated so bad in the past as dentist can’t believe how bad my teeth are. Over the past 2 years i tried to put things that had happened in the past behind and get some treatment. I have spent over £3000 and am now done to 7 teeth on the bottom and a broken one in bedded in m gum and 11 on my top if you can call them teeth. Most times a dentist tries to save a tooth which then a month later has not worked so i end up having it out. I am at the stage where i say to myself i want all my teeth out and have a false set as i am in so much pain and it never seems to end. Please help and let me know what my best options are as private treatment now seems to be my final option.

Monday, July 7th, 2008
Q.
I just had crowns and bridge work done and it seems that the crowns I can see all the recession on the top of them my dentist said the gums will come over that I was in temporary for 5 weeks and now have had the crowns in for 2 weeks and the gums are still not coming down over the crowns. Is this normal does this take a long time or were these crowns not placed correctly. thanks for your help.

I chipped my front tooth and several crowns have fallen off the stump

Saturday, June 28th, 2008
Q.
Hi there, I chipped my front tooth some years ago and after various crowns falling off the ‘stump’ that was left, the stump rotted completely and was removed. It was replaced with a metal rod to which a crown veneer (?) is now attached. I am happy with the appearance of the tooth but the gum above the tooth has got progressively more discoloured over the years. I am concerned about this as I haven’t heard that this is normal and it is understandably bothering me as it is my front tooth and so visible to others. My NHS dentist informed me that the grey was in fact the top of the metal peg showing but I’m not sure if I believe this as the gum actually looks grey. Furthermore, i’m sure that it has changed colour- going from a pale grey to a darker grey over the past few years. My dentist also informed me that I was being too aggressve with my teeth brushing and that the reason you could see grey was because I had brushed the gum back and that I should stick to a more gentle, circular cleaning motion in order to reshape the gum. I tried this over a period of several months- in fact I am still following his advice, but I can see no change. I want to know whether this is a problem you have encountered before? And if there would be any cosmetic dentistry service available to remedy it?
