my teeth are disgusting from drinking sugar drinks and smoking

Q. Hi i am 23 years old and can honestly say my teeth are disgusting from drinking extreme amounts of sugar drinks and smoking. I am so so scared of the dentist as i have been treated so bad in the past as dentist can’t believe how bad my teeth are. Over the past 2 years i tried to put things that had happened in the past behind and get some treatment. I have spent over £3000 and am now done to 7 teeth on the bottom and a broken one in bedded in m gum and 11 on my top if you can call them teeth. Most times a dentist tries to save a tooth which then a month later has not worked so i end up having it out. I am at the stage where i say to myself i want all my teeth out and have a false set as i am in so much pain and it never seems to end. Please help and let me know what my best options are as private treatment now seems to be my final option.

A.

You need to go for a full examination with a dentist that you feel at ease with. At this stage they will give you a full treatment plan for the treatment needed to give you a healthy mouth and get rid of your pain.

Once this treatment has been completed, you will then be in a pain free situation and can think abut what can be done to improve the appearance of your teeth. A denture cn be made for you to fill in the missing teeth. If you improve your oral hygiene by brushing a flossing twice a day and seeing a hygeineist regularly, then bridges may be a solution for you gaps. These a fixed restoration unlike a denture. I think  that at your age this would be a nice option for you but if you do not improve your oral hygiene first of all the dentist will not place them for you and second of all, if they do, they will fail causing you further problems.

You need to cut back on your sugary drinks.

You should be able to get most of the above treatment on the NHS and privately, so would just be whichever you opt for.

Kind regards
