Im 18 and my front teeth are few mm wide and there are longer than the others any advice?

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, Im an 18 year old student and ever since i was young i have always had a gap between my two front teeth. Over the years i think it has closed a little so i would say it was a few mm wide. Its always been an issue for me as i dont like to show my teeth on photos and when i am talking to someone and i know im going to laugh i try to cover my mouth so they don’t see my teeth! They are also a little longer than normal front teeth. I absolutely hate them and they are the only thing i hate about my teeth. Is there any treatments that would help to close this gap, or even veneers? Obviously because i am a uni student i dont have as much money as i would wish for at the moment so are there still options to go through the NHS? Many thanks, Regards,

My teeth are yellow due to medication and i have crowding at the front can you advice

Friday, July 24th, 2009
Q.
Hi there dr, I hope you can help. When I was young me and my brother were given medication that turned our teeth extremely yellow (I can’t remember the name off hand, liquid antibiotics I think). Further to this, my wisdom teeth have grown under my gums forwards instead of upwards, and I have crowding at the front as well as very short teeth. I have been unwell for a few years and am unable to work. What would you advise me, and also are there options for patients in my position financially. I am extremely self conscious about my smile and at thirty, i’d like to do something before I’m much older so I can have a few smiley photos! Thanks!

How many veneers crowns you can have in any one go with a NHS dentist and what is the cost

Friday, July 24th, 2009
Q.
Hello Please could you tell me how much it could cost me to have a full mouth makeover as I have some chops in my teeth on the bottom row. The other thing that worries me id that I broke my tooth this am and only have a little part of it left in my gum that I am worried about having extracted – will this hurt as I am a nervous patient at the best of times? Also can you explain how many veneers/crowns you can have in any one go with an NHS dentist or would I need to pay per tooth each time? many thanks

My son has large gap between his front teeth Will he be funded by NHS for his braces

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009
Q.
Hi my son is soon to go to see a specialist regards having a brace. I am aware though that the NHS are fairly strict on funding braces now and I have a horrible feeling he wont get funding. He has large gaps between his front four teeth and is very self conscious about it. Can you tell me your opinion on how the NHS will view this, and anything I can do to help the situation please? many thanks

I had a porcelain veneers on the NHS and it is stained where do i stand regards veneer replacement

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009
Q.
I had porcelain veneers put on my four upper front teeth about ten years ago on the NHS. My dentist at the time said that the staining on my teeth was caused by a brace I had as a child that hadn’t been maintained properly by the orthodontist. He felt that as the NHS caused the problem, then they should fix it. Where do I stand with regards to having these veneers replaced? Would the NHS pay for replacements, as they caused the damage requiring them in the first instance? (unfortunately I’m currently not working) Thanks
