Could my tooth be re-built in order to receive a dental crown?

Friday, August 31st, 2012
Q.

Hello there, a molar crown that I had fitted some years ago has come out and the top part of the tooth underneath has broken away, leaving the rest of the tooth flat at the gum level. My dentist does not think it possible to build up the tooth in order to fit a new crown, and my options appear to be to have the tooth removed, do nothing, or have an implant (which I cannot afford). There is no tooth behind this broken tooth. Are there any other options? Is there any way of building up the tooth so that a new crown could be fitted?

Do I need a crown fitted if I have a cracked tooth?

Thursday, November 18th, 2010
Q.
I went to the dentist with a mild toothache on my left side second molar. The Dr. couldn’t find anything wrong until he noticed a small crack. He says I need a crown put on it. I’m trying to get other opinions. I’m worried he’s only doing this for the $$$. Thanks.,

My crowned tooth is really sensitive after being fitted recently. Will I need further treatment?

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010
Q.
I had a crown fitted over a back molar about 4 weeks ago, which had cracked after a long-term large filling. I didn’t require a root canal. The prep went fine but when the temp cover was taken off the dentist was unable to numb it and it was incredibly sensitive. Anyway, the crown was fitted and it was really sensitive to everything for a week then it subsided a bit. Now the tooth next to it is sensitive too! The crowned tooth is sensitive to very hot drinks and food but not as bad as it was and a little bit sensitive to very cold stuff too. Please tell me that I don’t require any further treatment as they couldn’t numb it last time I went and the prospect of drilling when I can feel it makes me feel ill!!! Many thanks,

I am due to have a NHS crown fitted on my first large molar bottom left which is clearly visible. Will I be able to get porcelain over metal crown on the NHS? If not what type of crown will the NHS fit?,

I have bad tooth ache from the molar crown I had fitted last week, is this normal?

Monday, April 12th, 2010
Q.
Hi. I had a molar crown fitted last week. I am now suffereing from tooth ache, mostly at night. My teeth around the crown feel “tight”, a bit like the crown is too big and is pushing my other teeth. Is this normal and will the pain ease in time?,
