Dental implant or bridge for missing tooth im from california

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
Q.
Dr. Rob, I’m undecided whether to have a dental implant or a bridge on tooth #19. I had a root canal in 97 and retreat in 98. I’m a grinder, and wear a mouth piece. Ijust had a cap put on # 18 due to a re-filling and large crack. I take excellent care of my teeth. I had braces. My bite is off a bit. I’ve tried to do extentsive research of both implants, and bridges. One site was Failure of dental implants, and that scared me, so I started looking into bridges. I’ve been to 1 dentist, who constiuning insists I get a bone graft and tooth implant, for $12,000. At this point, I’m not sure what to do. Would so appreciate you imput. I live in California. Thank you.

Ive had bad dentistry and adult missing teeth

Friday, August 15th, 2008
Q.
Having had a history of both bad dentistry and problems with my teeth (ie adult teeth missing) I now have none of my upper back teeth and a couple of back teeth missing from my lower mouth. I have had dentures made for the upper mouth but due to constant gagging I have not been able to wear this, despite my dentist making several alterations. I was then advised that implants may be the solution but as I have read, smokers are not advised to have this treatment (I am currently giving up). And I feel that as I am an NHS patient then implants will not be a viable option anyway. I wondered if there is any solution to my problem as I am now experiencing problems with my remaining teeth as they are put under more use and strain. Having other members of the family with similar problems it appears that an hereditory condition that has meant adult teeth are missing has now been identified with both of my children. However, the children are under the care of an orthadontist and so I am hopeful they will not experience the issues I have. I really would like to recieve any information that will help me as now the gaps are noticable when I smile etc and have had a knock on effect to my own confidence as well as my facial features. I am 44 years of age.

I have a gap because my lateral incisors are missing

Friday, August 15th, 2008
Q.
Hi Dr Suri. some reason my lateral incisors (upper) never grew. As a result, I have a gap between my central incisors (probably drofted apart) and two gaps where my lateral incisors should be. I should also point out that I have ’27’ teeth in all so I’m guessing there’s a few more missing (probably molars). I’d really like to get my teeth sorted cuz I haven’t smiled in years!! What procedure would you suggest that I undergo?

i have missing teeth and my gums are not in good health

Thursday, August 7th, 2008
Q.
Hi just enquiring as to the best options to take after not visiting a dentist in over 20 years after a bad dentist trip put me off. I have a very overshot top jaw which resulted from bad dentistry as a child which left me unable to ever close my mouth properley and affected my breathing. When younger I coped as my teeth were quite good never smoked, I almost got my teeth and jaw sorted out but a bad visit put me off. Now older regret not going as my teeth are breaking and missing a recent visit to a local dentist as left me a little disapointed with not much hope. I have been told I would need a denture for a few missing teeth and that my gums are not good and that although you can see where my one of my front caps join and my teeth are not a great colour that nothing much can be done I am 52 but look younger how ever if the teeth problem continues I will soon look older I feel that maybe I should have all my teeth out and reshape some dentures to help my jaw as the teeth left are not too good and as my gaps have been left a while my jaw now goes to the side slightly and I think this causes me to have headaches ect, although I do practice everyday and have done for at least a year bringing my bottom teeth forward and joining my top teeth I do not know the best way forward as I get quite afraid of going to the dentist. thank you

I have 9 missing teeth at 14 NHS dental implants

Thursday, July 24th, 2008
Q.
I am 14 years old and have a 9 adult teeth missing.Apart from the two front top teeth all my teeth are at a 90 degree rotation. We visited a restoritive dentist recently for advice. Who refered us to an orthodontist. Do you think we would have to pay for our restoritive work or implants if needed. If i had implant how long would they last? or What would you recomend implants of bridges?
