Is a libial frenectomy necessary before placing an implant in the front upper jaw? Or is the frenectomy necessary just for the sake of fitting a partial denture, as in my case? As my local dentist performed frenectomy, saying that it was very much essential before placing an implant. I have lost a single tooth at the front upper region. Kindly provide me some information about the frenectomy procedure and whether it’s essential before placing an implant?

I have been tongue-tied since birth, would laser treatment be the answer to my problems?
Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012Hi.
I’ve always had a a tongue tie since birth, but it was never corrected. I’m now 22 and have noticed problems with my speech in the recent years and now that I’m noticing it, it’s getting worse.
I’ve read that laser surgery is the best option and the tongue can heal in a couple of hours, instead of weeks.
Where do I go to get this done, and how much is the cost of laser vs. scalpel?
Finally, will this solve the speech problems as I really feel it’s the tongue that can’t make the movements it needs for correct speech unless I really concentrate.
Thank you!

Would a lingual frenectomy stem any further gum recession and how will I know if it’s a success?
Friday, November 5th, 2010I am 44 years old and have severe bone loss & recession of the anterior 4 teeth, bottom jaw. I consulted w/a periodontist, and he took measurements of recession. He recommended doing a lingual frenectomy to avoid further recession. How effective is this procedure for preventing further recession, and how long will it take to know whether it was a success or not, and if I will need a graft? Does it make a difference whether the procedure utilizes a blade vs. a laser (besides bleeding, need for stitches?) What is the typical cash cost for this procedure? Thanks very much for your assistance.,
Would Europeans be interested in lectures concerning LANAP?
Friday, August 6th, 2010Dear Andrew: I am a USA trained Periodontist ( gum specialist) with offices in New York City and New Jersey . I have been lecturing and performing Laser Periodontal Surgery for a number of years. One of the laser procedures is called LANAP ( Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure). I have lectured extensively around the USA with supporting documentation ( Photos, radiographs). This Laser protocol also involves regeneration of bone and connective tissue. There also enormous cosmetic and positive restorative implications as well. Patients can remain on blood thinners, and other medications for this treatment which we do in 1 visit. I could go on and on about this ” game changer” in my field of Periodontics. We are documenting all our results and will be publishing in the near future. I also know that the Laser protocol is currently receiving European approval. Would you know if the local or regional European societies/ dental schools/meetings would be interested in hearing me lecture on this modality of treatment? We are getting e mails now from all over the world. I am one of the first Periodontists on the Eastern border of the United States doing these Periodontal/gum procedures and have accumulated some interesting and exciting cases. Best of all, the patients are thrilled to have this option for their treatment. There is minimal post operative discomfort without any sutures or cutting of the gum tissue. Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you. ,
