I feel the pressure of the weight of the mouthpiece from playing saxophone

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr. Tennet, My lower two front lower teeth are not perfectly straight, which does not trouble me particularly. However being a saxophone player after playing session the weight of the mouthpiece on my two front lower teeth feel uncomfortable for a while, and more importantly I feel that the pressure of saxophone mouthpiece would make them worse. So I was wondering if I could have a successful treatment while while still practicing few hour every day of saxophone, which means few hours of pressure on the teeth. And my second questions was that would my teeth go back to the way they were few years after the treatment is done considering that I still would be putting pressure on them when playing saxophone. I eagerly await your response, Thank you

Lot of pain in the area around an emerging tooth

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hello, I have a full grown wisdom tooth at the very end of my top right. So far there has been no problems with it. Now, at the very end of my top left there is also a wisdom but not full grown, its looks like its still emerging, but it hurts a lot. Im not sure if its an infection or if is just swollen. I can definitely see a big blob behind the tooth, like on the back wall of my mouth. My jaw feels very stiff, it hurts when I open it all the way. Its also really hard to chew food. Im going see my dentist on monday. Can you please explain whats happening or what I can do in the meantime to deal with it? Thanks.

i used to have a very defined jawline but its changing

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi there.i used to have a very defined jawline but over the last couple of years it seems to be deforming. one side is getting thicker and more rounded and the other side feels like the bone is disappearing and there is a lump of bone on my chin, its causes my face and smile to be very asymmetrical and is giving my a very low self esteem. ive noticed that it gets worse after lack of sleep or when im stressed.this may sound weird bu t i can feel its growing/changing and it cause a slight numb pain(only on one side) i have looked it up on the net to see if there is a reason but i cant find anything. its upsetting me greatly. really hope to hear from you

I have recently had one of my teeth out

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009
Q.
I have recently had one of my teeth out…2nd or 3rd from the front on my bottom jaw. I had a bone graft put in and I will eventaully be having an implant put in. I now have a single denture to wear during the process of having no tooth. My main question to you was that it feels very odd to eat and it feels like I cant bite like normal with my back teeth, my jaw also feels as if its a bit “clicky”, my dentist had a job to get the tooth out as it was not your normal tooth pull..! It was a tooth (my own) that I had transplanted in the gum when I was 11 years old, so it had fixed its self to the bone in its own way. He did have to pull lots and it felt like my jaw was being pulled so much!! Could you put my mind at rest and tell me if its normal to feel your jaw become a little odd after these types of procedures? I can feel it click into and out of place a bit….is this normal and will it go away after time or could there be some long term damage?? Kind regards,

i have pain in my right ear and also occasionally in my large molar

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008
Q.
Im a 55 year old male suffering from pain in my right ear and also occasionally in my large molar bottom right teeth and sometimes my lower front teeth. Ive had it for over 2 months. My dentist says it is being caused by an impacted wisdom tooth and it should be removed. The consultant at the hospital where he referred me says it is extreemly unlikely to be a wisdom tooth causing the problem and believes it is a problem with the jaw joint. She recommends my dentist making a splint to wear at night to stop teeth grinding. The pain is gradually becoming more intermittent and tends to come back every 3 or 4 days. Who is right>?Is it the jaw joint or the wisdom tooth?

what can go wrong with dental veneers

Monday, June 30th, 2008
Q.
I have just visited a private dentist who told me that veneers would last 15-20years and cost about 7k, is this correct? After this time do the veneers fall off and what will my teeth look like then? Should I visit more than one dentist to gain a 2nd opinion? What can go wrong with this procedure.
