I have recently had one of my teeth out

Q. I have recently had one of my teeth out…2nd or 3rd from the front on my bottom jaw. I had a bone graft put in and I will eventaully be having an implant put in. I now have a single denture to wear during the process of having no tooth. My main question to you was that it feels very odd to eat and it feels like I cant bite like normal with my back teeth, my jaw also feels as if its a bit “clicky”, my dentist had a job to get the tooth out as it was not your normal tooth pull..! It was a tooth (my own) that I had transplanted in the gum when I was 11 years old, so it had fixed its self to the bone in its own way. He did have to pull lots and it felt like my jaw was being pulled so much!! Could you put my mind at rest and tell me if its normal to feel your jaw become a little odd after these types of procedures? I can feel it click into and out of place a bit….is this normal and will it go away after time or could there be some long term damage?? Kind regards,

A. This is normal and the symptoms should subside. You will probably have some muscle fatighe and the joint will definately have been stressed. You can take some nurofen to help with any inflammation of the muscles and this may also help to relax your jaw. If your symptoms persist then you should go back ton your dentist
Kind regards
