I have an overbite and have had braces

Thursday, November 6th, 2008
Q.
Hi I have an overbite and have had braces when I was younger. This was only on my top teeth and it was not fixed braces just a retainer. I did have teeth taken out at the time. Over the years I have been to a few dentists who have advised that I would need braces to fix the overbite. I recently visited and orthodontists at my local hospital and they advised that I would need fixed braces for about 18 months, they would then operate and move the bottom jaw which will mean staying in overnight. After that I would need a retainer full time for 3 months and then only at night. Overall the process seems to take about 3 years. I planned to get married next year and really don’t want to wearing braces on my wedding day. What I would like is a second opinion, is this the only option?

I really want to straighten a gap in my teeth

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008
Q.
I really want to straighten a gap in my teeth which has bothered me for years, I heard about invisalign from my dentist but he quoted me a price in the region of 4000 pounds which is not something I can afford. A clinic running a special offer have quoted less than half that but want me to pay up front. Is this a bit dodgey? Would I be better to save and go with someone who is charging the normal price rather than gamble on the cheaper option? This is still a massive amount of money for me.

my canine tooth hasnt been able to fully come down

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008
Q.
Hiya, Im 26, my teeth are crowded, especially on the right hand side, my canine tooth hasnt been able to fully come down and has pushed the tooth next to it some way behind my front tooth, for some reason it has started to feel a little uncomfortable, the rest of my teeth are straight-ish they dont bother me but i am getting quite self concious about the canine/(fang look) i have looked into invisalign, but it seems very very expensive, is there a way of sorting out the canine tooth so it can grow down properly with out paying for invisalign ? also is it possible to just move a few teeth with invisalign ? would this make it cheaper or is this just not possible ? Thankyou for your time 🙂

I have an underbite should i have surgery and a fixed brace

Monday, November 3rd, 2008
Q.
I am 37 yrs old and have an underbite. I’ve been offered surgery and fixed brace under the NHS but the whole process would take at least 2 yrs. As I am single the thought of wearing a fixed brace at my age has put me off the procedure, but the underbite still bothers me! Is there a compromise such as veneers (which I would obviously have to pay for)? I feel very self-conscious when I smile and welcome any other suggestions to help my situation. ps. The surgeon will not use invisible braces as she says they do not work as well.

different levels of Invisalign accreditation

Friday, October 31st, 2008
Q.
Please can you tell me what the different levels of Invisalign accreditation are? From the Invisalign website (UK) it looks like there are at least three types of doctor: Platinum Elite, Platinum and Silver but I can’t find information on what each one means. Thank you, J.

is there a difference between invisalign and clearstep

Friday, September 26th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a large gap between my two front teeth which I am looking to close. I have looked at the available options and would like to go for a clear brace. Is there any significant difference between clearstep and invisalign? Or would one treatment suit my requirements better? Could you give me a guideline for the price I should aim to pay? Can you recommend a dentist in the Plymouth area? Or can you offer any advice for choosing the best one. Many thanks

will invisalign centre my front teeth

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
Q.
Hi I did not have braces as a child, but had one upper 4 removed to ease overcrowding. This has resulted in my teeth shifting round to the right to fill the gap so the front two are no longer centred. Would I need another tooth out on the other side in order to move my teeth back, or would a brace be enough? Would invisalign work?
