my 11 year old has a very uneven and over crowded jaw will fixed appliance work better

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
Hi My son is 11 years old and he has a very uneven and over crowded top jaw. Our orthodontist has suggested fixed appliances (NHS – about 12 months waiting list) but has also suggested a removable appliance prior to the fixed. This will cost £650.00. Is this necessary and will the fixed appliance work better/faster if we go with the removable one first. Thanks

Ive crooked teeth could you recommend a treatment that is more affordable than invisalign

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I’ve always had crooked top teeth (top front two are slightly further forward the the ones next to them and the canines are quite high and prominent) and one of my lower front teeth is set back – I’m desperate to get something done. My dentist recommended invisalign but I just can’t get my hands on the cash!! Can you recommend a treatment that is more affordable (but not visible) or where I could pay in installments? My teeth are really affecting my life – my smile is awful and I’m really conscious of it. Many thanks.

My front teeth and the one at the other side are crooked should i have a braces again

Sunday, May 24th, 2009
Q.
Hi I had a brace when i was a teenager and this was taken off in 2001. Afterwards i temporarily had a retainer but then i had a piece of metal wire bonded behind my top teeth and bottom teeth, so that i no longer had to use the retainer. While i have looked after my teeth i’m ashamed to say that i haven’t been to a dentist since then nor am i registered with one. About 9 months ago the metal behind my top teeth snapped and i had it rebonded at the dental hospital where i went as a child, this happened again about 2 months later and i went back there again. However, yesterday i bit into a sandwich and the metal pushed upwards into my gums, into what felt like an arch shape. I went back to the same hospital and had it rebonded but when i got home it had snapped again. After the bank holiday i will make it my priority to register with a dentist but my concern is that ive noticed that one of my front teeth and the one at the other side of it have started to move into the crooked position they were in before i started treatment and this is causing me quite a lot of upset as they were a mess before i had braces. Once i get registered with a dentist will they recommend i have a brace again because i want my straight smile back?? Thanks for the help.

what is the best way of removing invisalign and putting them on again?

Sunday, May 24th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’ve just had my first set of invisalign a day ago. What is best way of removing them and putting them on again? I find they hurt when I take them off (not too bad when I put them back on). Can you also, drink tea (with no sugar) with the aligners on? Thanks

A couple of front teeth is slightly overlapping which one is the better solution veneers or invisalign

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi Andrew, I have a couple of front teeth that slightly overlap. Four are rough edged at the bottom and they are not even in length. I have 6 teeth filled with white filler (not sure of technical term) due to damaged caused by brushing and other means. People say I have beautiful teeth – they’re pretty white due to having bleached them in the past. However, I think they could look better. Do you think that veneers would be too expensive for the little change I require? Would Invisalign be a better solution for me? Maybe you may have other ideas? Thank you for your time.

do you have any cheaper option other than invisalign for my huge gaps in my teeth

Sunday, May 17th, 2009
Q.
I am a 27 year old female. I have regular dental check-ups and really do try look after my teeth. However as a child, 2 milk teeth never came out as they weren’t replaced by adult teeth. So I still have them.(Quite impressive I’ve been told, I lived on a farm and drank loads of milk could be the reason I still have them) They are pretty healthy although one has now got a little cavity. The reason they have never come out is because I have bi-lateral canines set in my upper gums pushing ever so slightly on my front teeth roots. I have had advice from my dentist that they can cause cysts and need to be removed, but this leaves me with two gaps. A possible suggestion has been ‘Invisalign’ to pull my teeth from the back forward filling the gaps and straightening my teeth. However this costs about £4500 which is very expensive.Do you have any suggestions for me that are either cheaper and doesn’t leave me with huge gaps on my wedding day. Kind Regards
