I stopped smoking and my gums are still receeding is there treatment to replace the gums

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009
Q.
I am hoping you can give me some advise. I was a smoker for a long time and my dentist told me this was why my teeth were falling out, and gums receeding. I stopped smoking purchased an oral B brush, clean my teeth regularly and deep clean them also, but the receeding sstill continued. My mum has just informed me (I am 46) that the is a hiareditary problem of gum disease, this being why my gums are receeding. the left hand side of my mouth is worse particularly in the mouth. however I now have a wobbly tooth at the next to my two front ones and the gum has receeded up, it looks awful. I will probably have two maybe three weeks before it falls out. I am terrified. I have never be blessed with beautiful skill, but been proud of my smile and lips. I have lost some teeth but at the back so never bothered me. I have started using corsydil to help but the tooth is getting worse. Can I have implants, or can I have my teeth saved? is there such a treatment that can replace the gums before it is too late. how long do implants take or if I have another problem, and need bone restructuring and how much would this cost. I need some help as soon as possible Please help.

I has periodontal disease and it has ruined my perfect smile how can i go about fixing it?

Saturday, July 11th, 2009
Q.
Around 5 years at the age of 18 I was told I had periodontal disease, thankfully it was caught early and treatment has been very sucessful and the disease is not ‘active’, I don’t suffer any bleeding etc so long as I look after my teeth properly on a daily basis. But for the time I went untreated before diagnosis I lost gum from the main affected areas around my top teeth which has ruined a perfect smile, although I appreciate it could have been much worse had it been left I’m not happy with how it looks especially given my young age. I’d like to know more about soft tissue grafts and what it would involve? My dentist will refer me when I can afford it (private treatment) so I’ve been unable to ask more about the procedure in detail and I’m quite cautious as it sounds scary. Can you tell me more about it? Thank you

Q.
I am seriously considering having Gum Contouring but I am worried about the removal of the gum line weakening my teeth and make them more vulnerable. Is this so? Are there any other dangers or side-effects with Gum contouring?

One of my fang teeth is sensitive only i touch it with my nail how can i go about fixing it

Friday, July 10th, 2009
Q.
I had four fillings redone.. on front two teeth on right side and front two teeth on left side of two middle front teeth. They all are fine except one of the fang teeth. The outside tooth on the left side. I had work done on that tooth 3 times now because she left a hole on the side.. and had to redo the filling, then she redid it and got blood in the filling so it was dark! Then she had to redo that again! So FINALLY it looks right and feels right.. except the sensitive part. It is almost near the gum line.. and is on the outer edge. Its sensitive when I touch it with my nail only and a little to cold air.. like when i raise my lip and breath in air.. Thats about it. other than that it doesnt bother me.. i just keep touching it becasue i know its sensitive and i want it to go away! I called the dentist and she was saying that she wasnt going to fix anymore and would only do crown! I argued with her since she was saying she had to fix it so many times already. but yet those times she fixed it was HER FAULT! I went to another dentist and he said it looked fine. He just looked at it, pocked a little and grinded a spot that was bumped up on it.. and he said sometimes a tooth will be sensitive. It has now been two weeks since I had work done and still sensitive to touch with my fingernail. Kinda like a foil against tooth feeling..but maybe a lil worse. I am using a prescription strenth tooth paste for sensitivty. I noticed today that the same tooth on the other side is doing the same thing.. just a little though, DEFF not as bad as the other one. And its not getting bothered by cold air like the first one.. jsut when i touch my nail to it i feel a little.. not much.

I have been experiencing a dreadful taste in my mouth what do you think the reason is?

Friday, July 10th, 2009
Q.
I have been experiencing a dreadful taste in my mouth and I feel it is coming from either my tooth that is cover by a veneer or my gum as they appear a little inflamed. I have been to the dentist and they state that the xray appears fine and they can not see anything wrong. I feel there is as the taste is unpleasant and don’t feel right. Have you ever experience this and what is it??

Due to excess vomiting i ruined my teeth and gums which one will last long bridges or implants

Thursday, July 9th, 2009
Q.
Hi, im 22 and for years i have battled both anorexia and bulimia nervosa, i havent had an attack in 6 years. Due to all the excessive vomiting and lack of nutriants, i ruined my teeth and gums. Im needing alot of work doing on my teeth- wich has just started- and i keep asking my dentist for a dental implant to be put in where one of my teeth has come out but he keeps saying no, he’d bridge it.. Will a bridge last being anchored on two rotten teeth? or could i get the nhs to pay for the one implant to stop my teeth closing in on themselves and me needing braces? Iv been picked up by model agencies but im really self concious about the gaps in my abused teeth. what can be done?
