Is there any way of getting a cosmetic gum graft for my receding gums

Friday, August 14th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I’m wondering if you can help me. I hate my teeth so much that it’s starting to take over my life. I used to have fine teeth but now I can see very little problem and it’s driving me insane. I’m hopefully getting some bonding soon on a few teeth that have started to become transparent. But one thing thats irritating me most are my gums on the lower front teeth. When I was 18 I had braces (needed 4 back teeth removed for them) and years later (I am now 24) two gaps began to form at the bottom. I hated this and saw my orthodontist who gave me latex bands to move the teeth closer and thus close the gap as apparently there’s no need for braces as the alignment is fine. However, the gum around my bottom 2 teeth has receeded a little. It’s not severe, but I notice it and hate it, Also, there’s a small gap in between these front teeth – they go together on the top, but theres a gap before the gumline. I hate this – my teeth feel long and I feel hideous. I asked my dentist about a gum graft, but she said it is only for ‘severe cases’ and mine is not severe, even though I just dont want to smile anymore. (I’m not on NHS; I’m private and would be willing to pay for this.) Is there any way of getting a ‘cosmetic’ gum graft? And if so, do you know of any places in Wales who would do this? I hope you can help, it’s depressing me.

Ive a small grey are at the top of my teeth is it early signs of gum disease?

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009
Q.
I have a small grey area at the top of my front tooth and along four of my bottom front teeth. I know I need to get to the dentist, but at this time I do not have insurance and I need every dime I make. Can you tell me if this sounds like early gum disease? What are some things I can do at home to stop it from getting worse…until I can get to the dentist?? Thanks so much.

Can you have a bridge if you are missing 2 teeth next to each other

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hello, I had an abcess that damaged a tooth at the side of my mouth (bottom jaw) and caused the tooth to fall out unfortunatly it caused some damage to the tooth next to it and I am now left with the root of the tooth that fell out plus half the tooth next to it – Dentist said I should have the root extracted – he said the half tooth next to it should also be extracted because he can’t save it (he did say I could leave it in as its not causing me any pain but won’t leaving it cause damage to my gums and other surrounding teeth? Also suggested I could have dentures to replace the 2 missing teeth on the NHS – how will they fit / feel – will I have to have some sort of plate in my mouth to keep them in place(won’t this feel uncomfy like a brace) could I not opt for a bridge instead as I understand you can have a bridge on the NHS but not sure how they work – can you have a bridge if you are missing 2 teeth that are next to eachother – scared about having 2 teeth out and being left with a gap or having dentures – I am only 35 can you please help advise me best course of action. Thank you

My front teeth are look very large is there any treatment to help me

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Q.
I am 20 years old and have healthy teeth. I have no fillings and I’ve always taken great care of my teeth. When I was younger I had braces for quite a few years and my teeth are pretty much perfectly straight from the treatment. My two front teeth look very large to me, they are longer than my other teeth. It appears that my teeth are all at slightly different lengths and my gums are all at different levels on different teeth. I was wondering if there are any treatments out there that would help my teeth look more even.
