I have bleeding in my gums and have got worse can i have gum grafting in NHS

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Q.
After having braces about 5 years ago I noticed when they were took off slight gum recession on my front lower two teeth. This has got progressively worse, I am now 20 and my front two teeth have very little gum left and bleed when I touch them, they are slightly wobbly. I keep going back to my dentist who has told me different things every time, last time I went he told me there was still gingivitis in my gums but that my gums had grown back, when in actual fact my gums have got a lot worse. I am brushing twice daily with an electric toothbrush, brushing upwards on my gums, flossing, and I have gengigel which I apply before going to bed. I have recently started using cordosyl mouthwash. I realise I need to go back to the dentist but I am not confident at all in his abilities anymore. What is the best course of action for my gums and is it possible to save my teeth as they are only very slightly wobbly. I have heard of gum grafts, could this be an option, and also is there anything else you think I should do to help my gums and teeth? I realise I will have to pay for gum grafts, can I get this on the Nhs or will I have to go private and could you tell me an estimation of the cost. I am 20 and in full time education (college) but receive no benefits. Thanks in advance,

My bottom teeth have black lines randomly across the inside what is this?

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Q.
My gums started bleeding recently when i brushed my teeth, so i started using a mouthwash specially for gingivitus and thankfully it stopped. However when i looked closly at my bottom teeth in the mirror earlier i noticed they have black lines randomly across the inside. They look like lots of little thunderbugs. Theyre only on my molar and bicuspid teeth (think thats what theyre called) There arent any marks on the front or back of the teeth, just the top. What is this??

Im 23 and my gums are infected and i had dry socket help with my dental phobia

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Q.
I am 23 years old and at my wits end with my teeth. My front four top and bottom are the only ones which are okay. Every other tooth is filled beyond belief, infected or causing me problems. I have developed a SEVERE phobia of dentists now and have to be sedated to have any treatment. It took me 2 and a half years to build up the courage to have a decayed molar that was ground down to the root removed in March. the gum became infected thereafter and I had dry socket…. now, June 2009 and the surrounding teeth are causing me problems. I am now on the waiting list to be sedated to get these teeth sorted. My question is: Is there ANY dentist… is it even heard of that a dentist will remove MOST (not all) of my teeth… under sedation of course? I am honestly at my wits end with them now I cannot cope with anymore dental problems. I would give anything to have all of my back teeth and side teeth removed leaving me with only my front four on the top and bottom. I would happily live toothless for the rest of my life if it meant no more toothache. Thanks for your help.

My gums wont stop bleeding should i need a root canal treatment please advice

Saturday, June 6th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I wanted to ask about gum disease which I have suffered from for years now, I am 33 years old. I have been getting my teeth cleaned every 3-4 months, I use a sonicare brush, I regularly floss, but my gums won’t stop bleeding. I am very concerned now as I hated the way my teeth looked so I started Invisalign in March this year. When I wear the aligners, I often can see blood through them, I told my dentist this but he told me this can happen with Invisalign. I don’t know what I can do to stop this problem. Its got so bad that I avoid going out unless I have to as my gums bleed so often. I am missing out on so many things due to this. Do you think I need root canal treatment? I have had ex-rays done by 3 different dentists and all of them have said my teeth are alright, and that I just need to keep my regular routine of cleaning my teeth. Please can you advise me of what treatment you would recommend. Thank you

My papilla have reduced in length is there a way to reduce the gap caused by it

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
I have had some gum inflammation recently and have noticed that in some places the papilla have reduced in length creating some black triangles. These are not in the front teeth but more the small molars after the canines. My gum inflammation has gone now but really have a complex about these gaps. My periodontist told me that that because i have no bone loss the papilla should grow back. I have had a look on the internet and seen nothing that gives evidence to this. If they do not grow back is there a way to reduce the look of these gaps. I am looking to straighten my teeth can this help in any way? Thanks in advance for your help

my daughter is in italy and has a receding gums is it necessary for her to extract the teeth

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hello, I wonder if you can give me some advice. My daughter who lives in Italy, age 30, and expecting very soon her first baby, had fixed braces put in top and bottom about a year ago, she has been going for regular check ups and the last time the dentist told her that her bottom teeth had come too far forward, her gums were receding and there would be the possibility of losing teeth. He told her that to correct the problem he would have to extract two teeth from the bottom and two from the top and keep the braces in for another year (originally the time indicated was a year and a half). What do you think, should my daughter get a second opinion or is this normal practise? Thank you in anticipation.
