I have been attending a private practioner & after some gum contouring I have now been fitted with my permanent lava crowns x11. I have had other work done by the same dentist in the last year & have never been satisfied with the results, now after the final fitting I’m really unhappy I felt pressured into accepting them even though they were not made to my specifics i.e. too long & too narrow. She shortened the 2 front ones but the canines are different lengths & so are the premolars! Can they be shortened? & is it normal for all the front teeth to be a different colour to the back teeth? B1 & then from premolars back B2 she said this would look more natural!!!! But instead I look as if I have bad teeth to the side. Any advice would be appreciated.

I wanted some advice on the best procedure for correcting overexposure of gums (i.e. high lip line). I’ve read that this can either be corrected with gum contouring or via lip repositioning (or a procedure that limits the movement of the upper lip). I’m a lot less keen on the latter option but, in my opinion, I think that I have what might be called a moderate gummy smile.. I don’t know, a dentist would know best. I’d be happy to send you a photo to get your initial advice ahead of booking a consultation..
I wanted to know if you could explain a bit more about the different options and which would be best.
Could you also kindly tell me what the price range is for this?
Lastly, I have been living in London for year but am just about to move to Dubai for a couple of months, I will be back in the summer. If you could let me know how long the waiting list is, if there is one, I’d appreciate it.

What treatment is available to correct a prominent gum line?
Friday, December 10th, 2010I’m 18 and have just finished my braces treatment, my teeth are straight, but my gums are quite big, making my teeth appear smaller , which is really noticeable when i smile really big or laugh, also although my teeth are straight there is still a tiny tiny gap between my two front teeth, so not perfectly joined together. They were like this when the braces came off so it is not lack of wearing retainer etc. What would you suggest me do? As at the moment i do feel self conscious when smiling.
I want to have my bridge replaced with a crown and get gum contouring. Is this possible?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010Hello. I had an old PFM crown on my peg lateral removed because it had a dark line showing at the gum and has caused an amalgam tattoo. I currently have a temporary crown while waiting for my permanent. My dentist removed some of the gum (contouring?) because it sat much lower than the surrounding teeth. To me, it looks like she removed too much. She said she did that on purpose because the gum comes down after the procedure. It has been two weeks and it is still high. I believe she made a mistake. I asked another dentist on this site and he said it is true that the gum generally comes down. How can that be? I am nervous because my amalgam goes up so high under my gum that I don’t want my new crown to either look too high or show the amalgam. I went 20 years with a bad crown and was looking forward to a nice new one.,
