Can I get my teeth pulled off instead of getting root canal treatment

Sunday, August 16th, 2009
Q.
I have braces and when I started my treatment I was told they wanted to pull four teeth out two top and two bottom but I didn’t do it. I was recently told I now have a root canal can i posibly get them pull and allow for the braces to just close the gap so i wont have to get a root canal? Thank you.

Is braces the only way to pull the tooth down into the arch?

Friday, August 14th, 2009
Q.
Hi,I am attending orthodontic hospital to have a brace fitted due to my upper right canine tooth growing above my “baby” one.Had the baby one removed last year to try and give room but new one is still quite high and squint. I am 36 years old. I have been told I would need a brace and am apprehensive because of my age and also I have an allergy to nickel.I told them this and they explained that there is only a small amount of nickelThey said there is a plastic something they could try but it would complicate matters!!Can you explain? Is this my only answer- a brace and how long would I need to have the traintrack for? Thanks

My teeth are very unattractive so would invisible braces or veneers be an options?

Thursday, August 13th, 2009
Q.
Hi, i have hated my teeth all my life and they have always been a problem. I have had two braces (first a retainer then a ‘train track’ brace) my teeth were intially straight whenthe brace first came off but the two they had brought forward had a lot lower gums than the rest which looked very unattractive, i was told that in time the gums would move themselves up. well 5 years later im nearly back to square one the gums have not moved and my teeth have moved back. i would like to know what i can do to gain a nice smile i saw veneers would not be the solution but i feel i deserve a nice ‘hollywood’ looking smile after all ive gone through. would an invisible brace then veneers be an option?

Would the fitting of a damon brace interfere with the perfect bite?

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009
Q.
I have read about Damon Braces in the USA and have seen good results, my lower teeth are straight, I have never required any dental work, just reg. check ups, and oral hygenist visits. However I do have a front teeth overlapping problem, the two teeth both sides of the main incisors, have been told by my dentist in Australia that I have a perfect bite. 1.Would the fitting of a Damon brace interfere with the perfect bite. 2.Would the fitting of a Damon brace to my upper teeth, require a brace on my lower teeth?

Is the six months smiles a good treatment for mild crowding

Monday, August 10th, 2009
Q.
Hello, i am interested in the six month braces, but have a few questions i have mild crowding in my upper front teeth and my bottom two front teeth overlap by about 2mm so one of them is at a slight angle behind the other the rest of my bottom teeth have just mild crowding with no rotation, my bite is also good, i understand that without photo’s and xrays you can not give me a definitive answer as to if i would be suitable for this type of ortho, but do you think i may be able to have this treatment.I live in the midlands and would be interested in coming to your practice for an assesment, in your opinion is the six month ortho a good solid treatment because i can’t find as much info on it as other treatments and does it really average just six months to complete. Thanks in advance.

My daughter is not happy with metal brace what are the alternatives

Friday, August 7th, 2009
Q.
My teenage daughter has been accepted for nhs treatment to have fitted braces. However, after years of being bullied and miserable because of her crooked, prominent teeth she is noe mortified at the thought of having a mouth full of metal. We asked if we could have a white upper brace and pay the difference but we were told that this was not possible and it would mean us paying the full cost of treatment £2300 we cannot afford to do this. Someone informed me that a gps letter stating that the metal one would have neg impact on her well-being would help. Is all of this info correct? would we have to pay the full amount? Thanks

My front tooth is little prominent do I need a braces advice?

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I have spoken to my dentist about getting cosmetic work done to my teeth, and he says I must come to him for a consultation first, so that he will be able to send me to the right dentist. I think I will need a brace on my front teeth, they are out of line, a little prominant and long and crowned some years ago. Is it right that I have to go to my dentist yet again (I saw him in January for an expensive check up), when nothing seems to have changed with my teeth? Many thanks
