Is braces the only way to pull the tooth down into the arch?

Q. Hi,I am attending orthodontic hospital to have a brace fitted due to my upper right canine tooth growing above my “baby” one.Had the baby one removed last year to try and give room but new one is still quite high and squint. I am 36 years old. I have been told I would need a brace and am apprehensive because of my age and also I have an allergy to nickel.I told them this and they explained that there is only a small amount of nickelThey said there is a plastic something they could try but it would complicate matters!!Can you explain? Is this my only answer- a brace and how long would I need to have the traintrack for? Thanks

A. Yes a brace is the only way to pull the tooth down into the arch. You could consider porcelain brackets if you have an reaction to the metal ones. The treatment will probably take 18-24 months
