Thursday, April 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I need three small fillings inbetween a couple of my front teeth. The dentist has quoted £120 each which I though was a lot judging by other prices on the internet. Do you think this is expensive and orth getting a second opinion?

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Q.
My husband went in for a new filling to replace anold one,he didn’t have a problem, dentist suggested getting it done The problem, its been 10 days,he can barely open his mouth, his jaw aches, his ear ache, and today he was in tears with the pain He even went back to the dentist after 7 days and she said tooth was fine today he went to the hospital, they gave him, intervenus antibiotics, and intervenus pain meds he came home with antibiotics, muscle relaxants and anti-inflametory drugs,he has athma,so I told him what the risks were, why hasn’t his pain gotten better Does a dentist since the mouth is the place that carries the most germs and bateria, should of cleane dthe area before the 5 injections it took to numb his tooth? He knew the needle location would be soar, but he can’t even get his mouth open wide enough for him to get his pinky finger in it also was an upper mollar, and he even has swelling, which he had when he went back to the dentist he has to stay home a few days now,My husband has never taken any time off work for being sick in about 15 years, for him to stay home means he is really in bad shape how could this have happened, and whats worse he is so upset,he got a tooth redone that was fine, horrible when having dental benfits through union, these dentist offer lots if he is still bad by tomorrow Monday,i will have to take him back to the hospital,he will not trust the dentist where does the local go to numb the area?nerve?muscle?had the area have bacteria and dentist didn’t clean area,or dentist never clean an area before local injection?

what is your opinion on my broken tooth filling

Thursday, April 16th, 2009
Q.
I have a lot of fillings and recently part of one broke off. Went to see my dentist thinking it would be re drilled but after poking it with his hook a big part of the filling popped out and he said because there is decay under the filling it needs to come out. But he covered it with temp filling and said when it starts hurting you we will extract the tooth. could it not be crowned. The tooth is at the bottom next to my wisdom tooth.

I was told sliver would entail me losing a lot of my tooth during a dental filling is it true?

Friday, April 10th, 2009
Q.
I have joined a new NHS practice. I need a filling and have been told it would be highly recommended if i had a white filling. I asked why and was told silver would entail me losing alot of my tooth and white i will not lose any ! This is because of the amount of drilling envolved. Is this information correct? Also the price difference concerns me, that i am being given false information. Thanking you

I am 15 yrs old is it possible to get a white filling at this age?

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009
Q.
Hi…im 15 years old and i have a small gap between my front 2 teeth about 1mm-2mm wide, the rest of my teeth are straight and healthy its only the gap in my front 2 teeth that is causing me problems and i am not comfortable when smiling because of it and its really getting to me even though everyone says its not that noticeable, also it has increased in size slightly in the past year…when i visited my orthodontist i was told that it was unlikely that my teeth will push together in the future and i was offered a top brace plus further retainers for a cost of £1000 (as it is not severe enough to be included on the nhs) and this is a very high price for a small gap…i was wondering if it would be possible to get a white filling inbetween my gap at this age? what would be the rough cost for a gap this size? does it look very effective and unnoticeable? thank you please reply back with your advice, i really want to get rid of my gap!!

I have problem with sensitive teeth how can i get it done?

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009
Q.
My problem is sensitive teeth and it is really getting me down. I have visited my dentist twice and told her about it, she has taken x rays and done a bite test and nerve vitality test. She just recommends sensitive toothpaste. The thing is its specifically 2 teeth, my others are fine. The first sensitive one had a composite filling put on to repalce a silver one about a year and half ago. Its the right side upper back tooth. The filling caused nothing but sensitivity! I pur up with it for ages then eventually had it redone, which has helped but not 100% non sensitive. Also the dentist thought she saw a slight crack in it while redoing it, I think she put some desensitiser in it as well. The other sensitive tooth is the lower back tooth directly under the filling one. This is the odd one that the dentist cant find anything wrong with. It is sensitive most days to a greater or lesser degree. It is triggered by hot and cold and sometimes biting. Also since having this filling and onlay the other side I feel that my bite has never felt quite right since I get an aching in my bottom jaw at times too i think from the nerves in the teeth. The other sensitive one is the lower back tooth, directly under that filling
