Would it be best to replace my missing tooth with a false tooth at a private dentist?

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010
Q.
I had my front top crown and root knocked out by a dog 12 weeks ago, there was a splint put on and it has now been removed. I feel the crown tender and there is slight movement, would i be better replacing it with a false tooth as i cannot have a bridge as the one next to it is also a crown. Also do you think i would be better off going private rather than NHS (would they make a better job of the work privately. Thanks,

Hi im 56 and i suppose the last time i went to a dentist was 40 years ago. i attended Kings College Hospital, London at first as a guinea pig and got paid 5 shillings. I have so many broken teeth some are left but occasionaly give me pain, which i bare it as much as i can take it, this will last 3/4 days. Im registered Disabled as i have has a stroke and two TIA’S. Im so ashamed of my teeth that im afraid to smile bec ause as i do people look straight at my teeth. Please, please help me, as being disabled i dont go out a lot now, but i want to, im losing all my friends because of this and getting very depressed im on Fluoxtine to help me. I do hope you can help me. Thank you for listeneing to me.

What are the options available in regards to replacing a false tooth?

Monday, April 26th, 2010
Q.
About 7 years ago I was advised by my dentist to have my front right tooth taken out. I had chipped it a few years earlier and a xray showed that I had fractured my tooth in 3 places as well as the pallet of my mouth. She fitted me with a false tooth on a plate (like a brace). A few years ago I went back as i hate wearing this and she said that she could put a tooth in with wings and glue it in place. Well she made a bodge job and took it straight back out. I’m only 33 and really sick of having this false tooth in as it’s started to drop slightly and I’m really embarrassed about it. I think it’s starting to make my breath smell too. What other options to I have and what are the costs? Thanks Sarah,

Any advice about traumatic healing process after implant treatment?

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr Caplan My husband has recently (a week ago) began the process of a dental implant. His first procedure was quite traumatic for him (hates dentists, rarely visits them and I talked him into having a dental implant). He has had a false tooth (in the front) for 30 years and has continuously restuck the tooth to the plate with superglue – it’s time for something new!!!). During the procedure he felt as if the dentist was actually hammering the bone – the bone actually shattered and he now has a mouth full of stitches and is in constant pain as well as experiencing bad headaches. We are Australian expats living in Saudi Arabia and are now wondering whether we have done the right thing in having this procedure done here. He has been given a false tooth and told that it will take 3-4 months before it can be worked on again. Any advice??? ,
