Is dentist trying his best to make my treatment most expensive?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
Dr. Moore, I recently cracked a tooth a few months ago. I went to my dentist who did a crown and B/U. Before he started, he stated, “Gee, I hope we don’t have to do a root canal”. It seemed like he drilled very far down for the crown. Seveal wks went by and it still hurt. I went back and he said if it didn’t get better in a few months, I would have to get a root canal. My wife also went to get a new bridge put in. He also seemed to drill too deep to connect her bridge and told her the same thing. Is this coincidence or is he setting us up for more expensive procedures? thanks.,

What qualifications are needed to become a dentist?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010
Q.
HI, it would be brilliant if you would answer this question. I am currently studying my GCSE’s and have wanted to persue a career in dentistry for a very long time. I am determined to get there but I am confused about what A levels are needed to do this. I understand that A level chemistry and Biology is a must, but I have recently Chosen my Alevels and i’d Like to know whether a maths a level is really necessary? I have not chosen this as my alevel because I didn’t think I could achieve an a or b in it. At gcse I manage to get a C-B and Will try hard to get a B in my following exams. So I have chosen Chemistry, Biology English(language and litreture) and phycology for my A levels. is this suitable for a cource in dentistry. I am hoping to get 8A*’s a few A’s and one b in maths, so what do you think! Please get back as soon as possible because I am tryingmy best to become a sucsesful dentist!,

Why is tooth next to one that was extracted wobbly?

Monday, February 1st, 2010
Q.
Hi. About a month ago I had to have an extraction carried out on my second to back tooth. It went smoothly and I stuffed no pain from it, but going to the dental hygenist two weeks later, he pointed out that the tooth next to it (the third from the back) is slightly wobbly. I hadn’t noticed this before, but a week later I checked and found it moved slightly back and fourth when I applied pressure to it. I phoned the denist and explained the problem, and he said it was normal for this to happen and the jaw should begin to tighten up eventually, but after a month it is still wobbly and I’m starting to get really scared that it will end up falling out despite reasurrances that this is natural. Am I worrying unduly and should I give it time to settle (and if so, how long?), or should I look into it further? I’m really worried and I think the constant fear is making me imagine other dental ailments. The tooth does seem to hurt sometimes though, so what would be my best option? Any advice would be gratefully welcomed.,

Is there anyway that I could be used to train staff as I could never afford the treatment I need. I have been wearing a denture for 25yrs and have lost all confidence in myself due to the embarressment of this. I am even too embarressed to go to a dentist now because the last dentist that made me a denture made me feel like a horse,

Can I be helped as I am scared of the dentist?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
Q.
Dear Justin, I am absolutely petrified of the dentist – don’t know why – never had a bad experience – I am in need of some serious work – bridges, crowns etc and I can’t seem to make myself go – what can I do – I am an intelligent woman and can’t understand why I feel like this. Even sedation scares the life out of me – I would very much appreciate your response. Thank you.,
