Veneers have broken should I consider rebonding a veneer or crown?

Friday, December 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi Rob, I have several (5) Veneers . They have lasted be for around 15 years. Recently one has broken ( cracked and 1/3 of it fell off). My dentist would like to replace it with a crown as he is concerned about rebonding a veneer. Personally i would prefer another veneer. is there an expert opinion on the pros and cons of this repair

Is 16 years not eligible to have veneers?

Friday, December 4th, 2009
Q.
I was wondering if it is possible to get veneers on the nhs, as i had 2 accidents over the years and on each, chipped both my front teeth. At the moment I have caps on them both but one fell off and was put back on so that it sticks forward. The caps are also discoloured and noticible when you look at them. I was told by my dentist that when i reached 16 i could have veneers, yet when i asked at my last appointment he dismissed the question. I am now nearly 17 and have no confidence in my smile, i cannot smile with teeth and it gets me down. If i am not entitled to get veneers on the nhs then how much would it cost per tooth? the 2 teeth on either side of my front teeth are also very wonky aswel and i have gaps in these 4 teeth aswel as the discoloured and wonky caps.

Due to grinding I have gum receeding and loosing my smile.

Friday, December 4th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Tennet, For as long as I can remember I have suffered from bruxism. I sleep with a nightguard which my NHS dentist made for me but my gums seem to be receeding as a result of the grinding, which I think has now led to gum disease, and my upper anterior teeth are becoming very thin and I’m terrified of them snapping off altogether. I’m only 27 and hate my smile. My teeth seem to be wearing down and decaying very quickly and I’m terrified of having to wear a denture. Do you think crowns and possibly gum grafts may help me? I really don’t want to lose my teeth and my NHS dentist doesn’t seem to care.

Need to get back my smile from a history of dental problems.

Friday, December 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi, i am 28 an have had problems with my teeth for years i have advanced gum disease and have recently had 2 taken out at the front on each side so when i smile it doesnt look very nice also the majority of my bottom teeth are wobbly, they are discoloured some crooked and i hate them. My family has a history of dental problems my grandfather,2 aunts an uncle all had their teeth removed before the age of thirty. I would like to have mine removed but dont know how to go about it or what to even ask for. Money is an issue i am a single parent but am so unhappy with my teeth an always embarrased when i laugh or smile and it is affecting my life. I have however considered long term payment plans which would suit if i you can do that with cosmetic dentistry?. My aunt says she has plates but they dont cover the whole roof of her mouth an fit into her gums and look really natural can you tell me what this is and cost etc. I am considering travelling abroad to get something done as my dentist is very unhelpful, i am looking for some help and guidance please….please help me.

After root filling I have dark line on the gum please advise.

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009
Q.
2 months ago I had my teeth all made into crowns. Where I have a couple of implants and a root filling, there is now a dark line at the gum line. I have told my dentist about it and he says I should brush my teeth and make them bleed. I got a firm toothbrush and have scrubbed these gums and they will not bleed and the dark is still there. Also one of the teeth above these implants and root filling is very sensitive to cold and sometimes if anything hard gets into it it hurts. Because I am 68 years of age and went to the dentist for my teeth to be straightened, a decision was made by the dentist that I was too old for my teeth to be successfully straightened and that it would take a long time, that is why I have a mouthful of crowns. Is there anything I can do to make this ddark line around these 3 teeth disappear?
