I have been recommended three implants but is this necessary?

Friday, February 12th, 2010
Q.
I have a double bridge which needs replacing (according to my dentist). I have been sent to an implant specialist (I have already had an implant in another area) and have been told that not only will I have to be without the four teeth for 6 months (for gum reconstruction) but I will need 3 adjacent implants for these 4 teeth. Would you think it really necessary for me to need 3 implants? I only want it to look as it is now.,

Is toothe whitening causing pain?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I was booked in for three front teeth out and a bridge put in place. I also asked if my teeth could be whitened and my dentist said yes and quoted me a price for the bridge and tooth whitening to both top and bottom teeth. However the day before my appointment a friend said I should check before my whitening because his dentist had said his own gums were not in good shape for him to whiten. I had gum surgery and all trimmed back about 25 years ago which showed tooth root. This has gradually got worse and my top teeth and gums have been sensitive for years with bleeding and swelling. Nothing I do changes his. The gums look and feel loose in places on the top. When I got to my appointment I mentioned this and asked would the bleaching process not be advisable with these gum pockets and the risk and he agreed with me it would. I am horified that he would have gone through this process if I had not have voiced my concern because he had priced me for bridge and whitening. Consequently I have not gone through with either the bridging or bleaching and am not at all keen to go back to him. I feel he could have caused my immense paid. What do you think? Help !!,

Should I go for implant or bridge to replace tooth?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010
Q.
I had one teeth removed (2nd last from the back at the top) and my dentist recommended: – a bridge or an implant. My other teeth are in perfectly good health and I have no history of poor oral hygiene. A bridge is much cheaper but I worry it may weaken the adjacent teeth. An implant is a lot more expensive (and scary) but if it really last for life (does it really?) I m willing to try. Is that really the best choice? How long does the procedure (implant) will take (1 / 2/ 3 hours?) and how much is the pain (say compare to pulling the teeth out for example). any risk of infection or complication? I am 32 and in good health. THanks Mat,

Will adding to dental bridge improve smile?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010
Q.
Dr. Moore,a year and a half ago my regular dentist made me a bridge of 6 top teeth in front,I have been unhappy since. When I am not smiling big ,it looks like I have no teeth, the teeth are perfectly aligned and looks nice at gumline, but I can place something flat along edge and it is obvious they are arched upward,I have expressed my dissatisfaction to my dentist,he finally suggested he could ‘add on’to my bridge to make my teeth longer, and if it did’nt work ,he could take it off and it wuold’nt damage my bridge. Can this be done sucessfuly?,

Can dental bridge be refitted?

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
Hi I have had a front single bridge crown since 2001 but unfortunately I must have ground my teeth whilst sleeping last night and the tooth became detached it is in perfect condition and so is the what appears to be metal filling material that bonded it to the next tooth. My obvious question can I have this refitted? My dentist did advise when she first fitted this that you never quite get the same strength on subsequent bonds? Thank You,

Is it necessary to remove tooth tooth can what can be done to fill gap?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
I recently had an abcess near the front of my mouth on my tooth which has a root filling and had cracked and got infected. I have just finished my course of antibiotics and was told the root has died and the tooth needs to come out. I am reluctant to do this, as it is going to leave a gap near the front of my mouth. What would you suggest I do to fill in the gap? And is there any other options? many thanks,

Is implant a good option for me now?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr. Moore, I have a dental cantilever bridge for missing teeth for past 18 years, at first PM, 24. In order to strengthen the present alignment and for cosmetic looks I was considering an implant not available as option when I did the bridge. My bridge was very tight in contact with my canine, 23 and I feel 23 is pushing it. I did visit my dentist to help in this matter. She told me is not problem with this tight contact. Is almost 4 year from the time I had cemented this bridge, and my 23 is coming out, day by day like orthodontic pressure…and is move more frontal, now is over erupt because is not antagonist to stop, and is bone lost vertical and pocket 10mm, at mesial side of 23. What I can do?,

Can I have gap filled with bridge through NHS?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I am 29 weeks pregnant and have had to have my upper 6th tooth removed today. I had the same on the other side removed a few years ago and this has really dented my confidence. I am currently seeing an NHS dentist for free treatment but am too shy to ask if I would qualify for a bridge at NHS prices as I can definitley not afford maximum price. Are you able to tell me if this could be a possibility please?,

What treatment can I get to fill tooth gap?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010
Q.
I broke my tooth in early preganancy and was told I would probably need a root canal when the baby was born. The baby is now born and on returning to the dentist, he got rid of most of the decay and put a temporary filling in. I cannot put any pressure on the tooth and it is very sensitive – on returning today another dentist said extraction is the only option as it is too decayed. I am 34 and already have lost one tooth years ago so am worried to lose another – are there any other options? Or if it is taken out what can I do to fill the gap?,
