What treatment can I get to fill tooth gap?
Q. I broke my tooth in early preganancy and was told I would probably need a root canal when the baby was born. The baby is now born and on returning to the dentist, he got rid of most of the decay and put a temporary filling in. I cannot put any pressure on the tooth and it is very sensitive – on returning today another dentist said extraction is the only option as it is too decayed. I am 34 and already have lost one tooth years ago so am worried to lose another – are there any other options? Or if it is taken out what can I do to fill the gap?,
A. If it isn’t possible to root canal the tooth then extraction is your only option. You may consider a dental implant or a bridge to fill the gap as this will provide fixed teeth. An implant is normally preferable as this doesn’t entail drilling down any healthy teeth.
