My Teeth Are Rotting At The Back. If I Leave Them How Long Will It Be Until I’m In Serious Trouble?

Tuesday, February 4th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. Most of my back teeth have rotted away down to the gum line, I’m struggling to eat properly and have lost all my self confidence. I try not to speak to people so they don’t see what’s going on inside my mouth but I can’t afford to go to a dentist. I would need major work to fix them but am in a low paying job and can only just afford to pay my bills without paying thousands of pounds to a dentist. If I leave them how long will it be till I’m in serious trouble?

A Bit Of Tooth Came Out Whilst Eating And Now Food Debris Gets Trapped In The Hole. Will The Tooth Be Okay For A Couple Of Weeks?

Monday, December 23rd, 2013
Q.

A bit of my tooth came out whilst having something to eat, towards the back of my mouth but in between two teeth. The hole is right in the middle of the teeth and not on the outside/inside etc, it doesn’t hurt (YET) but I can’t get in the dentist until after the New Year, it looks quite dark and a lot of food is getting trapped inside which I have to keep flossing it out. Is this a sign of decaying, as I only visited my dentist in August this year, surely they should of spotted early signs of decay? I also had a crown fitted and they would of looked at my teeth on different occasions, I don’t know what to do? I don’t want to be unwell for Christmas but I have to wait until after New Year.

My Dentist Told Me That The Decay In My Tooth Will Not Be Removed Before Before An Onlay Is Fitted. Is This Correct?

Friday, December 13th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I hope you can help me. I have just been to the dentist and it turns out that I require an onlay. I used to have a crown over the tooth but this is no longer possible. My crown recently came out and contained some of my tooth. The tooth is still live. I have no constant pain although at times it is quite sensitive. I was told that the decay in the tooth will not be removed before the fitting. An impression has been taken. Is this correct? Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

I Have Not Been To The Dentist For 7 Years As I Have A Phobia, But I Now Really Want To Know Where I Can Get Affordable Veneers?

Friday, December 13th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Moore, Do you know if there are any dentists in the London area that do affordable crowns or veneers. I hate my teeth and want to get cosmetic dentistry done. Also right in the middle of my bottom teeth I have a black dot. I’m wondering what it is as I have no pain in any of my teeth I have not been to the dentist for about 7 years as I have a phobia. My teeth are not in that bad condition only the left side with two teeth and the back have decay on them but the rest of my teeth are okay. Please help, I really want veneers or crowns on all my teeth. Thank you.

I Notice That I Have A Stain That Has Developed Near My Filling. Why Is This?

Tuesday, December 10th, 2013
Q.

Hi Mark. I have a front tooth which already has a filling in it, but I have noticed where the filling is there appears to be a spot of some sort, like a brown stain on the tooth. Why is this? Does the filling have to come out and treated to be refilled. The filling has been in there for a few years but now I am worried that I might lose the tooth or the staining might spread. I would be most grateful for your help. I have no problems with other teeth but I would like to know why this has happened.

I Discovered A Black Spot On My Front Tooth. Will Fluoride Treatment Reverse The Decay?

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, my problem is that I have recently discovered a black spot on my front tooth (top 1) that’s annoying me. My dentist recommended to just leave it and wait, but now I’m starting to think that it now looks bigger. I have heard of a fluoride treatment, and I wondered whether this could this help to reverse the decay? What would be the best treatment for my front tooth if I had to use a filling? Is a filling the only option? Many thanks for your advice.

Kind regards.

Why can’t my dentist remove all my teeth and fit dentures?

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011
Q.

Hi please can you help me for the last 20 years ive been asking my dentist to remove all of my teeth, i want dentures, but he refuses. I feel so unhappy and have no self confidence. I suffer with stomach acid due to a few teeth missing making it difficult to chew properly. There must be a dentist some where in the uk that can help me. If i wanted plastic surgery say breast enlargement or facelift that would not be a problem, surely i have rights ? I would be more than happy to sign a legal paper saying that im going against good advice. Please can you help me. Kind regards

My daughters had the wrong tooth pulled and has now been recommended braces she doesn’t want, what are the solutions?

Thursday, September 15th, 2011
Q.

Dr. Tennet: My 18 year old daughter recently had her four wisdom teeth out. ..we thought. In error, her upper right second molar was extracted and the impacted wisdom tooth remains. The dentist is willing to do what is necessary to make the situation right and is hoping the wisdom tooth will drop and she can wear braces to move the wisdom tooth forward. We are skeptical that this will work and our daughter does not want to wear braces again, especially in college! We have had one expert look at doing a post implant which our daughter would like. The expert’s first reaction was to tell us she did not have enough bone to do this.
We want to pursue another opinion but would like some guidance before moving forward. Could you give us your thoughts and some advice?
Thank you.

Which would best treat my protruding teeth, veneers or braces?

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011
Q.

Hello,
I would like some advice on what treatments would be suitable for me.
My top teeth protrude greatly and have a large gap in the middle and a few smaller gaps around the sides. They’re also slightly decayed. Are veneers an option for me to get a better smile?
Can veneers actually help disguise/correct my overbite or would I need to consider braces instead? I desperately want a more aesthetically pleasing smile. Are there any other options you could suggest for me?

Thanks.
