Should I have cosmetic treatment or just settle for dentures?

Friday, November 25th, 2011
Q.

I am a 65 years old female with quite crooked bottom and top teeth. I have twice had my top front teeth treated, the last time (about 10 years ago) when I had a veneer on one tooth to bring it into line and a crown on the other one because it was crooked. However I have always thought this crown was quite large and didn’t look right – this was made obvious when none of my friends ever mentioned that I’d had anything done! I would like to have something done with this top tooth but don’ t know what – my dentist who is new to the surgery suggests visalign on my top and bottom but I cant afford it – a few hundred is my lot! I have thought about having them all out and a set of dentures – my husband isn’t happy! My bottom teeth (although I have had teeth whitening treatment on them) are still marked on the very bottoms Should I just give up at my age?

I suffer from Amelogenisis Imperfecta, are dental implants my best option?

Thursday, July 21st, 2011
Q.

I suffer with amelogenises imperfecta, should I have to pay for dental treatment (if I suffered with my thyroids I would get free prescriptions for the foreseeable future).
I have previously had my teeth capped and obviously they now need doing again, a cost of which I will regularly incur throughout my life (I am now 40), so will be the 3rd time I will need this doing.
Would I be better of going down the root of implants?

I have chipped two of my teeth, would crowns or veneers be a good option?

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011
Q.

Hi my 2 front teeth are chipped from an accident that happened last year, (one is only missing a thrid of the tooth and the other is missing 2/3rds of the tooth ) i don’t know whether to get Veneers or a Crown done ? I am scared that a veneer will just snap of and that they will have to grind away nearly all of my tooth for a crown. I have also had both nerves removed in the teeth. Thanks for your help

Is now a good time to get my teeth replaced?

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011
Q.

hello Doctor.
question = I grind my teeth while sleeping very badly. My back teeth are worn down too much and my bite is too close which is uncomfortable and gives me headaches.I think I pull my lower jaw backwards to be able to close my back teeth. second problem is because of excessive grinding all my life I have lost most of my teeth and have either crowns or implants. I have a bar of 8 crowns held on by 5 implants at the top front of my mouth. I was never happy with them because the gum at the front shrunk as much that even with the bridge of 8 crowns it still looks like I have no teeth and they are not seen when I speak or smile. when I had my own natural teeth they were all showing at the front when I spoke or smiled. the bridge of crowns that I have just now have become loose and before I get them recemented I wanted to know if its possible to have the whole of the top set of teeth replaced so that they open my mouth more at the back and show more teeth at the front when I smile or speak. hope Ive explained that properly 🙂 thank you

I have a black line showing at the top of my crown, what should I do?

Monday, July 11th, 2011
Q.

I had post crowns fitted some years ago on my top two front teeth. A year ago I had root canal treatment, and since then there is a highly visible black line between my crowns and my gums – I think it is the metal from the crowns.

I was informed that I am not able to have the post crowns replaced and would therefore like to know what my options are as I am becoming increasingly upset about this black metal showing.

thank you for your time and any help you can give

I am not happy with the fit of my crown, what can I do?

Monday, July 11th, 2011
Q.

hi there, feel a bit down as last week i had cerec crown fitted to lower molar. crown seems fine, however i found i couldn’t floss either side of tooth. I went back and my dentist filed between tooth and said it was sorted. Next day i found i could only floss one side, the other side the floss could only go down half way. My dentist couldn’t fit in an appointment so his colleague tried to get rid of some cement from side of crown and he has left me with a little gap that none of my other teeth have. Yes i can floss now, but the floss goes down the gap without really touching the sides. It feels odd and food is getting trapped in it. Is there some way the gap can be lessened?

What are temporary crowns made of?

Monday, June 27th, 2011
Q.

I have been reading the information on the website about dental crowns and bridges and it is very clear and easy to comprehend so I am able to understand the whole procedure of making crowns and bridges but I am a bit confused about the temporary crowns and bridges. If possible, I would like to know how are the temporary crowns and temporary bridges made and what are they made of. Are they tooth coloured or are they made of metal or gold?

Thanking you in advance for your time

Will my old, metal crown post cause me any harm?

Friday, June 17th, 2011
Q.

Hello doctor, I wonde if you could answer a quick question?

I have a crown diffused to metal and the dentist lately tried to remove it to adjust the color a little. The crown was done with temporary cement about 7 months ago. He tried hard but he could not remove the crown what I am worried about is that I have uncovered metal at the back of the crown from where he tried to remove it. Is this safe as I am concerned about drinking hot stuff and any leakage from the same metal since it is not covered with porcelain, im worried about the damage it could cause.

Thank you for your time

My new crowns are too white, is there anything I can do?

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011
Q.

Hi Dr. Verma,
I just had 14 lava (porcelain) crowns permanently cemented on upper 14 teeth and they are TOO white. They did not look this white when I signed and approved them. Is there any way you can tone them down once they are on permanently? I am a bit nervous on how to ask current dentist about this as they spent a lot of time with me trying to choose the correct color white. There are simply too many colors of white to choose from –

Thank-you,
