How long does it take a porcelain fused to metal crown to adjust

Saturday, September 26th, 2009
Q.
I got a porcelain fused to metal crown about 5 months ago and I have a couple of questions. I was looking at it today and I saw this white line between where the metal and porcelain meet. What is that? Also there is a black horizontal line in the middle of my crown on the porcelain part. It isn’t at the gum line, what could this be? Also how long does it take a crown like this to adjust because my gums are still sensitive around it? Thanks!

My front tooth is discoloured would i have to get both teeth crowned or vennered?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009
Q.
My front tooth is discoloured and is darker than the other front tooth. Its gradually got worse over the years although has not changed in the last year or so. Im aware that it is noticable and would like to get this rectified and was wondering whether I would have to get both teeth crowned or vennered to get a good colour match.

What can be done to correctly fit an irreplaced crown?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009
Q.
I had a crown on a back molar which did not fit correctly and is in the process of being replaced. I have a dull ache in the tooth area to the rear of the tooth. It is not the throbbing of a regular root canal type pain. An endodontist could not see damage to the nerve or root other than the poorly fitting crown which is now gone and a temporary in place. I am getting intermittent pain but am concerned about getting a root canal as a previou s root canal on a bottom molar left permanent nerve damage. What do you suggest?

What is an alternative for a dental bridge?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Q.
As a child I had two of my front teeth removed at a dental college as they told me I needed a brace to correct my bite. I had the teeth removed and the brace fitted which didnt have the result the wanted. My current dentist and previous dentist have told me that my teeth did not need any correction as it was a slight overbite. I didnt have any further treatment as I had very bad experiences. I now have two bridges at the front and would like an alternative. What would you suggest? Many Thanks

What are the better adhesives that can secure crown and post?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Q.
I have a front top central tooth fitted with a crown with post, I had it fitted many years ago but recently the post bent forcing the tooth forward. I’m told by my dentist this was because of my overbite. He removed the crown & post and made me a new one. The new crown & post will now not stay in for longer than a few days, even though I’m not biting on it. Are there more expensive / better adhesives that could be used to secure it?
